Stupid simple fishingbot and detection rates?

I’d like to build my own fishbot again. I’m currently reading a lot about bans.

Do they happen because of program signatures, or have they just significantly improved their bot detection?

If I only read data, override the bobber ID to "interact with mouseover," and simulate key presses, can it still be detected that easily?

A completely simple external bot without Lua, without injection?
