Xhelper is looking into issue. He MIGHT have found issue in PQI which broadcasted your addon version info to blizz servers. Since blizz keeps all their logs, figuratively said, this would mean something like youre shouting "IM USING THIS ADDON!" while standing in the crowd of ppl.
Having a lot of ppl using "INSTANT" interrupt in PvP/PvE (mainly in PvP) there had to be reports for sure, simply by investigating their logs you can easily spot specific string that PQI addon broadcasted, do the 2 + 2 and.. there is your math.

There were also reports from members on the forum which said that they never used PQI and they are ingame, using PQR as we speak.

As for Avery's profile's... they dont use PQI so you SHOULD be safe, dont bash the profiles without looking into cause or trying to figure out what happened, if you have nothing constructive to say, or youre unsure of your info, dont say it. Avery is one of top profile devs who took his FREE TIME to write a profile FREE OF CHARGE for you guys, so show atleast some respect toward him and his work and think first and bash later.

Which means addon messages were communicated to the server, and sent to any listening clients on that addon channel. This is a HUGELY BAD IDEA, as it is essentially advertising to the WoW servers "I AM RUNNING THIS ADDON!" Blizzard logs everything they receive, and it is just a matter of them searching the logs for people advertising their version number on the channel.

This is why I want to know if anyone was banned without ever having PQI installed.

I dont bash you, im asking you for some respect for their time spent to give you a product free of charge.

Take this all with the grain of salt, as noone is sure about what happened and theres "human" factor involved, lots of people are providing inaccurate information.
From what i manage to gather.. Mainly accounts which used PQI/PE got hit.. As for PE.. its logical as large number of users switched from PQR/i to PE. Small portion of HB users were hit... There was also unconfirmed info from a member of PE forums, whos friend works at idSoftware and has a friend in blizzard.. around 510.000 accounts were hit, mainly targeting EU (figures as EU security is not as tight as US) and all on PC platform, so far, on both forums (PE and OC) there was no reports of mac ban.. Earlier in the past there was also a warning from several PQR profile devs that PQI is not safe to use and people should avoid it.
