I read the glider beginner startup guide and it was very helpful (thanks Phail). I decided to add onto it and give the next steps to the “quick start”. I hope this isn’t a re-post and that somebody gets some use out of it:
Glider v1.5.5, Launchpad v0.2.2, WoW v2.3.0
Glider watches what is happening in WoW. While you are going though each step of the glider process, you can simply alt+tab out of wow (or run it in a window) to see what glider is doing with the information it is collecting.
After you have setup your configuration for glider, click “Launch”
When glider makes some popup I haven't read, click no. When you click no, glider is going to open wow. Get into your account and log into the character you want to bot. ALT+Tab back to glider.
The first thing you should do is setup the default action bar for your character. Glider uses action bars 5 and 6 to control your character. Click the ? in glider and read the section that corresponds to your class. This will give you a list of where glider expects each key to be by default. You should make these action bars on your character so that you can run as smooth as possible the first time around. After you get it working, you should read and download piggy's key maps so you are less likely to be detected: Piggy
After you have your action bars setup, you need to make some waypoints for your character to move around and kill things in. You can make a new profile for your character and setup the waypoints you want to use. Click the buttons in the sequence shown. When naming your profile, it’s wise to give it a name that corresponds to which character you are using and where you are using it.
Once you name your profile, click next and follow all the instructions glider gives you to setup your waypoints. Just alt-tab back and fourth.
After you get a nice message at the end that basically says you’re done, you are probably ready to click the glide button. Once you click the button, chances are glider won’t maximize wow on its own, so you should be ready with a swift alt-tab to get wow maximized. If you did everything right, you should see your character moving around, killing things in the places you intended. PRESSING ESC WILL MAKE GLIDER STOP.
If you find that you aren’t pulling from far enough away or your character isn’t willing to wonder far enough outside your waypoints to catch a mob (stuff like that), remember you can find those options here:
You can keep toying with it to get it to run the way you want it too. That should be enough to get you started. Good luck with glider.
