    [Mac] Model Edit Fix

    WORKING WoW VERSION: 3.2

I made this Mac Model Edit Fix for a friend of mine. I decided to release it, hoping someone will find it useful.

Because of a security feature in Mac OS X, The application will fail to call task_for_pid (Which is necessary). Therefore the process must belong to the procmod group(This is why you are asked for administrator).

    UPDATE:
In this release there are two versions. One is the old MEF from before (working with 3.1.2)the other is a new MEF that I made with Cocoa. As I a not confident with compatibility I have included both.

    Instructions for new
    1. Run the Model Edit Fix.
    2. It will ask for administrator.
    3. WoW will start up, you should get a message box saying success.
    4. Close the Model Edit Fix.

    Instructions for Old
    1. Run the Model Edit Fix.
    2. It will ask for administrator.
    3. Run World of Warcraft
    4. Close the Model Edit Fix.

    Download: Model_Edit_Fix.zip
This application has only been tested on:
Mac OS X 10.5.6, 2.4 GHz Intel core 2 Duo. It will not work on PowerPC mac's.

Your model edits must be named correctly!

    Credits
Kynox - For finding the original function in the PC binary
Cypher - General Contribution in the Memory editing section.

Everyone else in the Memory editing section!

    Have Fun,
    Proof:

Warning: Remove mpq's before patching. If you do not the mpq's will be merged with the WoW Mpq's forcing you to always need the MEF. (same applies for PC users)

Cant get this to work on my imac G5. I run it and everythings go well. But when i try a race swap model edit and put the mpq file in my wow/data folder it instantly crashes my wow. Any good advice how to progress or to get any model edit to work ?

The iMac G5 uses the PowerPC chip architecture. I made this application for Intel Mac’s (it’s the only Mac I have access to). This will not work on PPC Mac's because it is patching WoW with a x86 (Intel) instruction.

I may take another look into support for PPC Mac’s. Although, I cannot promise anything.

I visited a friend of mine some weeks ago... He uses a MAC for work, and it crashed 2 times when I was there (he was just photoshopping). I laughed quite a bit
