    Efficient Reputation Grinding

So you just dinged 58 and want to get into outland. Stop! Let me ask you one question: Do you want to get to level 70 and then find that you have to run the same instance a dozen times to get your heroic key? If you do it right, starting right now, then you can get all your heroic keys with a minimum of instance grinding, then you can have that fun for getting to exalted. Here are some tips for efficient rep grinding in outland:

    Honor Hold

This is usually the most difficult to get rep with since most people do all the quests as soon as they arrive in outland, and are then left running shattered halls till they're blue in the face. I would reccomend not going to outland until 60 at least, there are a lot of quests in Winterspring, Silithus and the Plaguelands to get you to 60 or even 61. Then go and grind orcs on the path of glory till you hit friendly with HH. The orcs give 5 points each, so you need to kill 600 to get to friendly, but that will get you most of a level too, but getting some help is a bonus, especially someone else who wants the rep. From friendly to honoured run ramparts and blood furnace, accept the quests, but don't hand them in. Those two instances are fairly poor for rep, but they don't take long, so you might be able to persuade groups to do both at once, for ~1500 rep between them, do that 4 times and you're honoured. Then start doing the quests, according to wowwiki there are about 13k of quests, this includes the ones for the instances, so add 1500 for a shattered halls run to that and you're 2500 into revered. If revered is as far as you need to go, you can afford to do a few hellfire quests for gear, but bear in mind that this includes the SH key quest, and those inside SH, so you won't be getting to revered untill 70 anyway.

    Cenarion Expedition

This is the easy one, but as ever you shouldn't do any quests till you hit honoured. You can get rep up to honoured from handing in plant parts (recommended) or by killing the naga. You get 250 per hand in of the plant parts, and a few each for the naga, so I got about 245 from the naga, and still got the same rep from the plant parts. The best place to grind the plant parts is the dead mire, and for herbalists it's even easier cos you can 'skin' the bog lords, and they drop parts too. If you're lucky you'll get 2-4 unidentified species from the plant parts hand ins, these are an extra 500 each but keep them till you hit honoured. Once you are honoured do the quests. there are more than enough quests in Zangar, Terrokar forest and BEM to get you a few k into revered, then you have to grind SV to get to exalted. I don't recommend doing Slave pens and Underbog for rep, that reduces the amount of unidentified species you get, and there's only one quest between them, so from a rep point of view they are a non-starter.

    The Sha'tar

This one causes a lot of confusion, but it is possible to get to honoured with hand ins. You get half the rep with sha'tar that you get with scryer or aldor for every hand in you make for them. You can't get beyond honoured with the scryers/aldors till 68 when the second marks/rings hand in becomes available (although i think you can hand in armaments/tomes before then), but as soon as you're 68 you should be handing in your marks/rings upto about revered when you hit honoured with the shatar. After that you can get to revered just by doing the quests, including the arca key quest that takes you through a full run of mech and bot, and gives a hefty chunk of rep for completing, and for the follow up which takes you into arca.

    Lower City

This is another grind/hand in one. Grinding the arrakoa feathers is a thankless task, but you get a decent reward along with the rep for handing them in, or you can just get them off the AH. This time it is worth running Auchenai Crypts and Sethekk halls to get to honoured, but again don't hand in the quests. After honoured there are a lot of quests available, and it only took me one and a half Shadow Labyrinth runs to get to revered (with a quest from killing Murmur).

    Keepers of Time

There's nothing you can do for this other than running the instances. The quests for the instances are required to get to BM, so there's no point keeping them, and both instances give rep all the way to exalted anyway. You'll need to run BM about 6 times (with the Durn run to get in) to get to revered. The good thing there is that it only takes 30-45 mins, so you can do it twice for 1k rep a go in the time you would spend on another instance.

    The Consortium

I know they don't have a heroic key, but they are still a popular rep grind. First off there are two repeatable quests in nagrand to get to friendly: elekk tusks and oshu'gun crystal fragments. Do one of each and another 10 of whichever you find easier (one of each cos they give xp the first time and aren't available after friendly). I would recommend doing mana tombs up to honoured, you get about 1100 rep per run, so you need 6 runs. Then you can start doing the quests, there are plenty of quests to get you to revered, then you can grind warbeads/zaxxis insignia/ethereal prison keys to get to exalted, as well as the remaining quests (some only become avaialble at revered) and heroic mana tombs.

This may seem overly complicated, but if heroics is your goal it's much easier to do whatever you can to get to honoured before starting the quests.

Hope it helps with future rep grinds, or when starting an alt into Outland to avoid to endless drain that is the grind

Dirty bump due to the fact that there are no less than 7 practically identical leveling guides posted today, pushing everything else onto the next page... *Sigh*
