i was wondering, on my private server i love testing things i see people do like when people hit 7 or 8k shadowbolt or pyro blasts crits on retail and for some reasons i can give myself t6 and all the best trinkets but i hit no where near their. for example on my lock i have over 1200 spell power but my highest crit was 4k so can anyone explain why i cant do as much (i know it may just be their build but it must be other things im forgeting)

i have all my stuff enchanted with major spellpower and all that and all my gems put to spell power so i have no idea why i cant hit for that much

What level are you? If you are 70+ your crit % goes down because the game is not supposed to go to that level.

no im just lvl 70

Lots of times people making those huge crits are using random buffs (like WSG zerker). They also tend to setup the shots by attacking some one with rez sickness or some other debilitating debuff.

As for retail vs private server. Retail has no true limit on crits. There are so many variables to be taken into consideration like armor, penetration, crit %, procs. On a private server procs are not even close to retail if they can be done at all.

Try this, I used to use Antrix so thats the GM commands I know, do a .cheat and make yourself god mode, no cast time and no mana/ power. Then give yourself 100% crit chance and attack a boss as fast as you can. When I did this I would cap out at a static number, whereas on a retail server your crits are almost never the same.

I could be wrong, but that's how it's worked for me.

or, they could be stacking items, like when i make a mage i get 4 of the staffs with the claws coming out of it and stack them -> really high hits
