    Programmer Island

    I don't really have any good reason to post this other than well, I was sick of getting pm's like "omg your soo awesome!, Is it really possible to get to Programmer Island!?!?!??!" or stupid things like that, so i decideed instead of saying yes 1.1 billion times to just do this.

    And sadly i was an idiot and fell and died before i took the SS but meh, good enough proof. Yes this was done live as of 10-3-06 patch 1.12.1

    I wish i could get my batch renamer to work now

    Also, i think i see Barrens texture on the minimap :P

    Ah if that is what he was refering too its not really to sound. When the minimap loads it is essentially loading what is on the ground that your on atm. It is the barrens in the MM becuz when you die on Prog. Island, your spirit goes to the barrens, at least as horde. I am right next to XR on the map. I am falling endlessly due to the fact that some files have to be replaced, so while the invisi ground is there, the textures are not. So its like im just standing in nothing (Ie when you jump off the edge of the world and get stuck floating)

    Hope that helps a bit, It was a weird experience, there was water so i thought hey ill be smart and jump in the water so no fall dmg. Bad move.. the water is a tid bit lower than the ground so you cant get out.. and if you move towards the edges you fall... endlessly... It was not so much fun. Just a heads up if you get there.. slowfall is ur best bet.

    Lol the reason i didnt tell is cuz someone else already did. Theres a sticky and 19 pages attached to it.

    I suppose ill give the last little bit that is missing. Programmer island is found in the terrain.mpq under the development folder. The Coords you'll have to get urself, you will need to make 2 model changes. One for the actual Island(s) and one for the zep to get there. *No they CANNOT be in the same MPQ* Modelchange all of the development folder to Kalimdor in one of the model changes and the Zep conversion to the coords for programmer island in the other.. Once that is done the fun begins.

    Run to the zep tower you converted.
    Log out.
    Place the mpq you created with the zep coords and log back in.
    Start flying after you get stuck under dalaran Log out.
    Place the Model change for The actual island inside the wow/data folder.
    Log in and keep flying.. you know the rest.
    Explore to your hearts content.

    If your smart you wont jump off the zepplin (You will appear the server not only as teleport hacking if you jump but you will also be on "GM Island") The reason this works is becuz while on the zep it is simply client side changes (You still appear in durotar/STV or w/e) But when you jump your coords change server side from Durotar to GM instantly, IE teleport hacking so dont be dumb about this.

    No and to anyone who does I will have to ask that it be removed. This is not something that should be handed out. Take the time to learn how, Its all spoonfed right there to you on exactly how to do it. There is NO need to just download it. I'm sorry if that comes off as rude but this is a place to teach others, and share ideas. Its very simple, its like at most a 5 minute model edit.

    I know what model editing invilves like program wise. Im just not sure how to move stuff around and you know =/ God ive been waiting for Programmers island a LONG time Lol +Rep =)

    Well I could teach you, but there is no need. Other have long beat me to it. 1st in reguards to this particular model change I would say look at the GM island post (Stickied) for exactly how to edit Zep Coords. Once you have that down (And i must say that guide up there is brillant and tells you EXACTLY how to do such) Model edit the zone. Its pretty simple, Ill recap on a very Basic un elaborated level.

    1) Open MWCS and open the terrain.mpq
    2) From world\Maps\Development click on the folder til its highlighted and extract to w/e you can find it easily.
    3) Using a batch renamer convert all of the "development" to "Kalimdor"
    4) In MWCS go to Pack(P) and create a new MPQ (I called mine Patch-x.MPQ)
    5) Then its back to pack (P) And add files.
    6) Find your folder and start adding the .adt files one by one, make sure they look like this World\Maps\Kalimdor\Kalimdor_*_*.adt
    7) Once alllllll of the .adt files are there and with the right listfile go back to Pack(P) Save and close archive.
    Your done.

    Hope that helps, llke I said its a summary, there are more indepth posts elsewhere on MMowned just search.
