Path of Exile tips?

Heyo! I'm playing on my level 17 witch and I'm already struggling! ^^
I think it is because of lack of gear but I'm not sure... Maybe because I'm speccing 100% fire damage and no defense spells? I appreciate all tips and advices, thanks!

The best way is to join a party and get a tanker, if not try to build up some HP for the start if you are alone. You tends to get better in the mid-end game

First of all, if you wish to level up alone, it's highly recommended to spec Ice or Lightning.
You'll slowly realize that unlike many of the games where fire deals the most damage in Path of Exile everything is different, Ice does ok damage but it has a GREAT UTILITY, freezing and slowing foes is the way to go. Lightning deals TONS OF DAMAGE and it also may grant shock status on the enemy, which will make it take more damage exponetially. Fire has ok damage but close to zero utility. On top of that: inflicting any status to the enemy means that you dealt a critical hit, so it's good to look for skill nodes that grant you crit chance.
Uh, last thing: Get some % increased energy shield as it will be your one and only source of defense, in this game 90% of the dps comes out of your gear so, you should focus especially in the early stages of your character on those % increased energy shield nodes, to spec into crit and plain spell damage later.

Add digitalassaulttt in game on my 60 ranger currently. im always runnin lowbies threw with my 350% magic find gear and getting epic loots u keep all the yellows

Playing with my solo lvl 50 Cold Witch, rocking merciless with 700hp and 1000es, all ele. resist aura and clarity (I have enough mana for that).
My freezing pulse does 1400dps and my Ice Spear can basically one-hit enemies - if it crits. I'm only having problems with elites that can
run/teleport next to me since even though I freeze enemies most of the time, that isn't the case when they get closer up (no ice spear proc).

My tip for playing a witch is to max out your ES, get clarity so you need maximum mana only to a certain point and you can then replace
some of your items to gain more DPS. Try to go for double Spell Damage affix on your Spirit Shield and Wand, then go for some increased
elemental damage of your choice in rings and perhaps +AS (and mana regen) in amulet (unless you still use firestorm). Mana regen is really
effective when you got a reserved pool and clarity, so you will want to pick up all the +% regen nodes.

17 in 1 day? erm i just did to lvl 20 in 2hrs get to the ledge at lvl 5 and farm it to lvl 12, then farm felshire ruins 12-20 just use a bow with split arrow if you dont have a aoe spec

Playing as a witch, you might want to focus on getting ES instead of HP since when you hit Merciless A2/A3 you
soon notice the chaos damage dealing range monsters are just too hard to overcome without Chaos Inoculation.
