I've made a comprehensive youtube video with details on how to multibox correctly. The best part is that you don't have to read it! I read the steps outloud so this should make it much more enjoyable I hope. The video contains tips and tricks for multiboxing in game such as how to combat certain affix's, how to sync your characters, movement speed, along with attack speed. There is other details in the video too.

The video is pretty interesting, but forgive my ignorance: what do you use to multibox and play both character? is there a free tool?
I'm pretty new on multiboxing without the "follow" option and I would like to start with a good solution

@jgoku - It is pretty easy. Just find your diablo folder, copy it, then rename it something different, then you just paste the folder you had already copied next to the current one.

@MmoMasterer - The program I use is called ISBoxer. The cost is $15 for the program. And there is no free tool for multiboxing in Diablo as far as I know. I was searching all around looking for one but the only only I had found was ISBoxer. I've heard of using a program called virtual machines and to duplicate the mouse movement on both screens but that was too much work for me. It also seemed like ISBoxer had more features.

ISboxer is awesome ! You can test i for free for 7 days on their website, I started my test a couple of days ago and I love it..... don't know if I have the $$ to buy it just yet tho, but it's high on the list.... maybe an early christmas present from the misses

@MMO: Well I would recomend ISBoxer, tho it's not free, it's really easy to use, only takes about 15min to setup up correctly and your good to go, otherwise try their free 7-days.

I'm not familiar with the afk check. Could you explain?

I know that if you are botting and your focus is not on the window moving (and botting) you get an afk warning because you are playing but you are not currently focusing the window you are playing on and that should be of course impossible to do it...until you are botting
So I was thinking if the same problem occours with isboxer...I'm going to check it tonight with the free version
