Spoils of War question

Okay so, I am starting to see people with Dota 2 Items. (Spoils of War)

I understand that these are things you can buy from the cash shop.. however.. I also read on the SoW FAQ that you can also "earn" the majority of this stuff in game.

Does anyone know what sort of things qualify you to receive these things? ie: Can you idle? .. or Bot? .. are they timed? .. or specific achieves maybe? .. Tradeable :P

At the end of rounds you have a chance to get an item, you can get weps, armors (Hats wrists backs), which I'm pretty sure is randomized. I'm not sure yet if you can get couriers at the end of the round or keys (I'm a little more optimistic about keys) , and I'm fairly certain you cannot get Battle Bonus. You also get an item every 1000 battle points, or level up.

Every game there is a chance to get an item.
I've seen some games where nobody gets an item, and other games where 4-5 people get an item. Not sure if RNG, but it seems that way.
You are also guaranteed an item once you reach 1k battle points and "level up".

Any item can be an "item" or a "chest".
You can get both common and uncommon items through non-paying methods.

You can get not only common and uncommon, but rares and mythicals as well. I've seen a player get the ability modifier for Nature's Prophet after a game, as well as plenty of rares.

You can bot unfortunately, I had a guy ruin one of my games doing it.
