    Removing armoring from pvp gear

You know how the pvp armor has only two mods in it? Mods and enhancement, and the armoring is not visible, which is the part that contains expertise.

Just have a green armoring (or just any quality armoring) in your inventory, open the PvP item you want to remove the armoring from, and right-click on the armoring you have in your inventory. The armoring slot should now appear in the modification window. Simply just drag the armoring you added back to your inventory, and the epic armoring should now be visible and can be removed (at a cost of credits of course)

Here is a picture of how it should look: https://i.imgur.com/xhgVL.jpg

    Edit:
It seems like it is also mentioned on the official forums

Edit 2: This has been fixed with the 1.0.2d patch, see patch notes. As for barrels/hilts, I don't know if it would still work, has to be confirmed. (They only mention armoring in notes, but hilts/barrels might be of same "type")

Ah nps, 27K to remove the mod, kinda sucks but yeah... Can't sell it either since its bound.

    Edit:

Also works on other PvE based epics which have hidden armouring. This is pretty decent since you can take the expertise from duplicate gear and put it in your PvE gear or Custom gear to get more expertise for PvP.

This is great, I wanted to use 3pc columni and 2pc Pvp(for the amazing 2pc bonus) for sniper class. being able to throw non pvp armor onto my pvp gloves means I am at no stat loss now.

This also works for PvE weapons (Columi) normally you cant see the barrel, but you can use this to f.e. put an offhands mods into a mainhand.

    Haha yea.
But as lolroots mentioned this also works on PvE weapons that have their barrel/hilts hidden and basically any item where you can't see the most important mod.
My theory is this is linked to the whole "we want to make all items fully customizable but haven't decided which path to go with it yet" that BioWare said in a post (so you also could put set bonuses into custom armor) so that the feature to remove the hilt/barrel/armoring is in-game, but just hidden.
    Or well, not hidden enough.

    Dev Post:

The current situation with end game gear and item modifications isn’t final and, in fact, many community members like yourself have correctly guessed at what our plans to correct the current design are.

Since this is a fairly important issue to many players, let me disclose more details about what is currently in the work regarding purple items and mods:

    - All partially moddable purple items will be made fully moddable again, allowing the removal of the armoring, hilt and barrel.

    - The set bonus of end gear purples (PVP and PVE) will be transferable to custom items.

    - Some item modifications will be restricted to a certain item type. For example, some item modifications will only fit on helmets, while other will only fit on chests, etc.

As usual, the caveats about unfinished work apply, but this should give you and the community a very good idea of our intentions. We are serious about making custom gear an entirely valid alternative to end game gear and we support the players’ ability to customize their appearance all the way to (and including) end game.

Yah you lose your bonuses however you can say get two sets of PvE gear and, the bonus for say the Stalker set may be amazing, but the stats for some peices of the Force Master gear may be better (like the Columi Head) than what you can get with Stalker, so you swap em and bada bing!

Seems like this will, as of patch 1.0.2d, no longer work.

Fixed an exploit that allowed the removal of Armoring item modifications that were not intended to be available for removal on Artifact quality items.

Have any more details exactly? I just hit 40 and put on all the lvl 40 pvp commendation gear, but didnt have any expertise except on the weapon enhancements.
But if I didnt know any better my damage in pvp shot up a lot.
