A Dummy's Guide to Area Name Changing

PossiblePancake's Dummies' Guide to Area Name Changing

This is an easy-to-follow guide to area name changing for those who haven't been able to figure it out. It is really easy to do and once you do it once you should remember how to do it for the rest of your life! ^_^

What you need to follow this guide:

    1. Glitchy's Model Editing Suite
    2. World of Warcraft
    3. A Model-Edit Fix
    4. The internet (lol)

    Well, lets start shall we?

Step #1 - Open up Glitchy's Model Editing Suite, go to Advanced Tools, and then click on Zone Name Changer.

Step #2 - Once the Zone Name Changer window is open then click in the Find textfield and type in Orgrimmar or whatever zone name you wish to change. If you follow the example then Orgrimmar UNUSED and Orgrimmar should pop up in the field below the one you just typed in. Click on the second result and once you click on it the name should appear below that box into the change textfield box.

Step #3 - Now click in the Change textfield and change Orgrimmar to whatever you wish for it to say in-game. Once you've decided what you want to change the zone name to, then click the change button to the right of the texfield.

Step #4 - Then once you click Change, the results in the top field should turn to whatever you changed it to. There will only be one result because you only changed the name for that name instance. Then once you see that it changed, click on Save and go to C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Data and save it as patch-#.MPQ. Make sure you change "#" to a number between 3-9, and also make sure you capitalize the .MPQ part or it won't work later on. Click Save again, and now you're done in Glitchy's Model Editing Suite.

Step #5 - Now put patch-#.MPQ into your model editing fix and run the model editing fix. Your WoW login screen will popup and BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING make sure to hit F8. Then enter in your login information, login to WoW and head to Orgrimmar or whatever you changed and LOOKY THERE!

The top Orgrimmar was changed to A Filthy Orc Hangout. As you can see it still says Orgrimmar at the bottom, but that's because that gate area is a subzone. You can simply change that too to whatever you want. Same thing with The Valley of Strength, The Valley of Honor, ect.

Well, that's it, you're done! If you have questions or if you see I made a mistake anywhere then please respond. Have fun doing whatever you want to do with this!
