[Guide] Advanced Enchant Swapping using DBC

In this guide; my first guide, I will show you how to swap simple enchants or use some of the insane that aren't used in the game.
    Example

You'll need MyWarcraftStudio and a DBC Converter, you can find those in this forum (MMOWNED Model Editing Guides & Programs) and something to edit CSV files (Microsoft Excel should be ok). Of course you'll also need a MEF (don't ask me about it!) You should also have knowledge on how to use these tools; if not you can find guides in this forum.

Ok let's start with opening MWCS, load the following
...World of Warcraft/Data/enUS/patch-enUS.MPQ if you installed American client
...World of Warcraft/Data/enGB/patch-enGB.MPQ if you installed European client etc.

Inside the MPQ archive open the DBFilesClient folder, now there are 3 important files out there:
    ItemVisualEffects.dbc
    ItemVisuals.dbc
    SpellItemEnchantment.dbc

You could edit any of them so I will tell something about all of them.

    Let's start with ItemVisualEffects.dbc

It's still easy here; there are 2 collums; the first is the ID (wich is used in the ItemVisuals.DBC) and the second is the model path and filename to load for the enchant; at the end om my guide I shall what most of those models look like; but you should be able to guess some of them (Spells\Enchantments\SunfireGlow_High.mdx realy doesn't look like Sunfire enchant )

I don't advise using this file for your enchant swap; but you could try and it works out well with most in game enchants.
You should know what to do now if you want to swap two enchants, but in case you don't I shall sum it up:
(Example make Sunfire look like Soulfrost)
    1. Extract the DBC with MWCS
    2. Convert the DBC to CSV
    3. Open the CSV with Excel or something similair
    4. Lookup the ID's for both enchants at the end of my guide(should be easy to guess in this case)
    5. Go to the row with the same ID as the Soulfrost enchant and copy the information in the second column
    6. Go to the row with the same ID as Sunfire and paste the info in the second column
    7. Save and close the CSV
    8. Convert the CSV to DBC
    9. Use MWCS to create a new MPQ archive, call it like Patch-X.MPQ and add the edited DBC file.
    10. Rename the DBC file to DBFilesClient\ItemVisualEffects.DBC

Offcourse you can also decide to try using something completly different then those basic enchants like an enchant looking like Fireball or something made by yourself.

    SpellItemEnchantment.dbc

See the collumn I selected? It's the display ID of the enchant; this is NOT the ID from the first (ItemVisualEffects) DBC but the ID from ItemVisuals.DBC; wich I will discuss later. You could swap those ID's with no problem (same as above); but you could also use it to lookup the ID for a specific enchant; so remember this for the future.

    Editing ItemVisuals.dbc:

This is a important file and you could do some nice stuff with it, so let me explain how this file works:
The first collumn is the ID, wich is used in the SpellItemEnchantment.dbc DBC
Collumns 2-6 are ID's from the first DBC
Where collumn 6 is the ID that is applied to the tip of the blade; collumn 2 is the the part of the sword closest to your hands.
Shorter weapons do not use all collumns just try it out a bit.

If this is not clear let me give an example:
You can have items have different colors!

Just use 5 different numbers in those collumns I used "ID,3,45,147,146,148" for this.

Or if your enchant is a orbs swirling around your item; normally if you do an enchant swap; you'll get 5 orbs swirling around your item. Well, I think that's cool but in case you don't like it and just want one orb around your item you could solve the problem here with no problem.

    ID, 142, 142 , 142, 142, 142 - 5 Orbs
    ID, 0 0, 0, 0, 142 - 1 Orb around the tip of the blade

I hope everything is clear now what you can do with those DBC's...

So now I'll give a list with most effects you could get on your weapon. I'll give ID (as used in ItemVisualEffects.DBC) a description and sometimes followed by a picture.

    2 - Blue Glow
    3 - Blue Glow
42 - Orbs orbiting around the weapon; see last picture for example
    45 - Red Glow
46 - Poison dripping from your weapon
47 - As if you applied a sharpening stone
    48 - Yellow Glow
49 - Looks like a rune glowing on your weapon (looks like Arcane Intellect buff)
50 - Weak evil red glow
    51 - fireball(s) orbiting around your weapon
52 - snowflavkes around your weapon
    62 - Blue Glow
81 - boulders around your weapon (like shaman enchant I think)
101 - Some shining white orbs around your weapon
    121 - evil red glow
    124 - white glow
    145 - green glow
    146 - purple glow
    147 - yellow glow
    148 - shadow glow
149 to 152 - colored orbs around your weapon; in right order: purple green red yellow
    153 - lightning, picture:

    159 - picture:

160 - chaotic fel fire enchant:

161 - Looks like druid's faeri fire above your weapon

162 - weapon is launching fireworks

164 - just check it out

170 - smoke above comming from your weapon
171 - lightning, check example at top of the thread
174 - thundercloud above your weapon
    177 - gold glow

Some real enchants (check wowhead to see how they look if you don't know)
    182 - mongoose
    183 - savagery
    184 - soulfrost
    185 - sunfire
    186 - battlemaster
    187 - spellsurge
    194 - executioner

    And that's it

Hope you liked the guide may it help you let your weapons look more awesome. And sorry mods for accidentely clicking Submit instead of preview (yeah I realy am a noob :P)

I give up. I spent 3 hours trying to learn this, but couldn't in the end. No matter what I tried, I did something wrong and nothing was changed when I loaded up wow. Im going to bed with one hell of a headache. Sorry, but this was just too confusing.
