    GPS Cheater

    Hi,

I released an android app called GPS Cheater a few days ago. It basicly does what the name suggests.
It runs on Android 6.0+ and requires no rooting. The app has bookmarks, different starting point (manual, from real GPS, from map, last GPS or last mock position), has an handy pad drawn above other apps to control your position. Everything can be configured, including maximum speed and step randomness. There is also the chance to keep moving randomly when you do not move using the pad to simulate the common loss of precision of many GPS devices. You can also decide if you want to start sending mock locations immediately or reuse part of the data taken from a real GPS fix. This is useful to move around surroundings as part of the data will be taken from a real fix.

Problem is: none of my friends has been able to properly configure the app without my help, even if there is a detailed tutorial inside the app.

I am not a PoGo player but from what I understand my app should be similar to other apps some PoGo players already use.

I was wondering if somebody would be willing to give it a try and maybe give me some feedback. Problems, suggestions, how to make it better, configuration issues, etc.

The free app is ad supported, has maximum 3 bookmarks and the pad disappears after 60 seconds. If you want more time all you need to do is stop the service, select starting point "from last mock" and restart the service. As many times you want. This should be more than enough for testing and the app is free.

As I said I am not a PoGo player and the app is new so I wouldn't do anything crazy with the app that might put you or your accounts at risk.

If somebody is willing to try here is the link GPS Cheater.

    Oh.. here is a screenshot!

    Looking forward for your feedback!

So you added Ads to a trial app that force closes in 60 seconds anyway? Like does a Ad popup within that 60 seconds that's 10 seconds long, giving 50 seconds of use before force closing? That is not even enough time to start PoGo lol. You aren't going to find many willing people to test this for you as FlyGPS does essentially the same thing and is free, plus no one knows you & if your intentions are malicious?

I suppose you did not try the app.

1- The ads are banners, so there is no time wasted.
2- There is no force closing, you cannot move but the mock position will still be sent forever.
3- As I wrote in the original post you can switch back to the app and restart the service using "last Mock" as many times you want. In android world you can have all the apps you want in background, just press the home button instead of the back button.
4- There is a clear privacy policy in the app but I understand people might not be trusting apps they don't know. There is really nothing a developer can do about this when an app is new.

Isn't spoofing without root easily detectable? Can't they check if mock location is enabled?

Yes, and you just get failed to detect location when using a app that utilized mock without root & hide mock location.

Just so you know, when using mock location without root & hide mock you just get failed to detect location & it would not work. This would not work for your average spoofer without root.

Not to mention, there are several in the community already that are free & trusted that do the same thing without a 60 second time limit..

You will get failed to detect location error below android 6 but since 6 it works without root. I just do not know why Niantic didn't block it.

Instead of spreading false informations why you don't inform yourself before posting?

The app runs on android 6.0+ and in Android 6.0+ (as somebody here correctly pointed out) there is NO WAY for an app to detect a mock location. Root is not needed.

I clearly stated android 6.0+ and no root in my original post.

You keep speaking about something you obviously do not know and about an app you do not even want to try. I am asking for feedback if you don't trust me and you think my app is no good then fine. At least do not post misleading informations.

You're wrong. You say in your original post that you don't know pokemon go. So how can you comment on if an application can detect mock locations. Which they actually can. If you knew anything about Andoid dev you'd know they already have code implemented to check the boolean on getMockLocations...

So there's some proof for you. No misleading information has been posted.

I totally agree with you. If i had a android device, i would be happy to test your app and give you some feedback.

Call me naif or whatever but i truly think the op is looking for some testers for his app. If you don't like it, then don't try it, but stop flaming the op or giving wrong info.

If you want to go technical then there is no problem. When I was testing my app I wrote a simple logger app to check what was being sent by my service. All my locations had a clear mark stating they were mock locations. When looking for a solution I found there are apps on the store that actually can trick my logger sending what looked to be legit locations. I wanted to replicate their behaviour as a challenge and what they had in common was support for android 6.0+ and no need to root. Went to android source code repository and started checking for open bugs. There it was.

I understand you don't belive some random guy showing up out of nowhere.. but other apps do the same. So just decide.. they are all scams or mine could work as theirs. But there are topics here about apps working on android 6.0+ without root. Why should only mine be a scam??

    Thank you.

To those flamkng also consider the app is compatible only with android 6.0. And when I say that is not something I am just saying here. Actually the app won't install if you go to the store and you have a device with android 4.x or 5.x. Why bothering to reduce so much my potential user base if I wanted to trick people or do something shady?

I could have released the app even for lower versions requiring root but that wasn't the point. From my logs I am not seeing any difference between my locations and real locations. And I did not say: hey please try my app to see if it works. I did not say please trust me and compromise your accounts testing my locations.

I just said since you are used to apps like mine if you can give me feedback about the app in general. I am sure my app works I have the logs.

For example I have no problems if somebody says an app offers more for free that is still feedback I can find valuable. But I think to start a flame or being disrespectful is not useful for anybody.
