Explain what happened: Basically I was selling gold to this guy.and I asked him for his link on ownedcore to ensure that I was talking to the correct person. However, when I clicked on the add Skype button it asked me to add a different skype account. This was a huge red flag for me. I raised this to him but he told me that he could send an email from his email address ([email protected]) which was specified under the ownedcore link. I then told him that I would make a post on his ownedcore thread and that he was to confirm it. He then claimed that he could not access ownedcore due to China internet issues and provided a screenshot. This was another red flag. Nevertheless, we proceeded on the basis that he would email me our skype conversation from the email address [email protected]. Hotmail itself flagged his email by stating that "This sender failed our fraud detection checks and may not be who they appear to be". This was yet another red flag and I feel really stupid as I type this out for even making a partial trade. He replied to this concern by saying that "when i send to other is normal, maybe i sent too much emails". He then pressured me to trade him smaller amounts even though I expressed my insecurity with proceeding with the trade. He confirmed that he received my 50k but did not make payment. I told him to make payment to my paypal account but it took him more than half an hour to even respond. He claims that his finance guy is fixing the issue. I have yet to receive payment.

Edit: I got scammed by an imposter. I was tricked by him being able to send out emails from the address [email protected].

Alright so what happened is both of you added an imposter to Skype. As you said, there were many red flags.

But as soon as you clicked that "add to Skype" button and noticed it added a different Skype, you should have stopped right there and asked for verification through a PM on OwnedCore.

Unfortunately, in this case we can't do anything nor can we punish the seller because he hasn't done anything wrong.

In future, make sure to only use the "add to Skype" button.

Agreed. This was completely my fault. I wasn't greedy to sell gold at a higher price but rather felt bad for the person that he had to spend 1 hr talking to me with nothing to come from it. I have learnt my lesson but maybe ohrwurm could edit his first post to include that there is a known imposter around.

Edit: to others reading this, do not fall for the "i'm from China so I can't access ownedcore trick". More importantly, please note that scammers can may be able to spoof the same email address of another person. Verify based on ownedcore accounts.
