Views awards reputation!

Hello, it's not very complicated. Simply, for about every 500 - 1.000 views you get on your thread it should equal 1 point of rep. This would benefit both the user and the site since it would admire people to start some real eyecatchers wich would make more people see the ads etc. Ofcourse the current system should still be there, but i see too many people doing great work without being rewarded.

IMHO, no, there are loads of unworthy threads that get many views, including reposts.
Besides, we're not going to consider implementing anything unless you can find the plugin for it... or code it.

So, i know that you might not be very happy with this idea.
One of the moderators roles are to delete reposts.
Unworthy threads for you might be gold for someone else.
Payin a few bucks to someone who could come up with a code could possibly be covered with the money made from ads and donators.
It's not impossible =/

Some of my threads have 10,000 views alone, many have 2,000+, I don't think this would be a very good idea. Looking guide section alone I see a thread with 8,000 views that is about trolling in trade while I see really well written guides with a lot of effort put into them that only have a thousand or so.

Most views are from people who are not going to read the guide but just clicking it to see what it is about anyway.

Reputation system is fine in my opinion, people still rep whenever they feel someone deserves it. There will be some people who don't but it doesn't really matter, reputation is just an extra incentive to contribute, it should not be your main reason for contributing.

I think you are right, maybe its bad idea after all. But for people like me who arent Elite yet ;P it seems to take forever to get above that 80points When im posting in the exploit section for me, both rep and sharing plays a role. But when posting in other categories its just all about my own curiosity. I think this is because if you just go look for an exploit. You really want that little extra reward for it. Sometimes it can be a pain in the ass trying all the combinations of methods of findin a glitch.

A major reason this will not be implemented is that views can be automated. There are programs out there that generate views by simply refreshing a webpage over and over again (you may have heard of such programs being used for YouTube videos, etc.). To those thinking that none of our users would ever even consider doing such a thing, certain pages of our forums have been auto-refreshed via programs before. To be more specific, there were users who thought it would be cool to auto-refresh their profile pages simply to increase the amount of visits their pages had. Needless to say, these users suffered the consequences.

All in all, I think you can imagine why this would not work and would therefore be a bad idea. Such a feature would be too easily and too often abused.
