Slow mode threads

Ability to reduce the number of posts allowed on a thread per account to:


Once per day

Once per week

Spoke to the other mods and admins about your suggestion but double posting is already against the rules on OC, if someone is posting again it should be in response to someone else's post.

I could see why such a limitation would be favorable to sales posts. Even if you clearly display a support thread link or provide alternatives, users will still post on the sales thread (I know you can ask a mod for cleanup). From experience some users even break out in arguments over threads, and wind up burying useful info as well 🤷 I can see the appeal, but believe that it's the wrong approach overall.

thinking a bit more about it & talking to other, yeah I agree, it will have unwanted consequences and may not yield what I want.

If there is excessive drama in threads or off-topic posts feel free to report them along with stuff like double posts. Slow mode shouldn't really be necessary if the thread is well moderated but it's not really feasible for moderators to read every reply, so we rely on reports. I understand having to see the post and report it in the first place is not ideal, especially if you have to do multiple times a day, but I don't think a slow mode would solve this issue unless it was just one person at fault.
