Fable Legends cancelled & Lionhead Studios close

Earlier today Microsoft announced that the Fable Legends, which has been in development forever and was in early beta stages, has been canceled. Along with this news is also the shock that all of LionHead Studios and Press Play Studios, which was working on Project Knoxville, will be shut down.

"“These have been tough decisions and we have not made them lightly, nor are they a reflection on these development teams—we are incredibly fortunate to have the talent, creativity and commitment of the people at these studios,”"

LionHead Studios was responsible for the Fable series but also another gem known as Black & white which came out back in 2001 and had a sequel in 2005.

The question now is "Will Fable be pawned off to another Studio?"
For the Fable fans sake lets hope so.

Players who have access to beta for Fable Legends will be able to play until 15:00 GMT on April 13, 2016. No new players will be admitted from here on out into the closed beta.

It is always sad to see a studio close but two deepens the wound.

I just read the news, very very unfortunate. Black n white as well as fable had been some of my favorite games growing up, and I'm a little bent. Can't believe they were shut down after 20 years of creating some successful games and franchises but.. I guess I've seen crazier. All these big money companies want numbers, the team was fighting for creativity (production of fable 4 rather then legends) which ultimately led to some lead devs leaving. Their games have also been rapidly declining in quality and quantity so..

Hopefully they all find new work and continue to make some cool games... I'm personally pissed that black and white will never be brought back from the dead, but I guess it's meant to be... bnw2 sucked ass any sequel will be the same

So sad to hear that Lionhead is closing. I spent MANY hours as a kid playing Fable, and it has remained one of my most beloved franchises.
Although sad, I have to say it is no surprise. As Dark_Angel pointed out their games have gotten worse with age, but the thought that the good old Fable I love so much won't return saddens me.
I hope that maybe some day some of the devs from Fable will get together and make a sequel (if they give them permission to).

I will never forget the pleasure I got from killing Whisper, that bitch!
