A breath of fresh air Allods is, plays like normal MMORPGS but is different and refreshing. Often times I do not go past cartoonish WoW graphics on a game, but I got a free beta invite so i decided to try it out, and glad i did.

Allods is a revolutionary massively multiplayer RPG from Gala-Net, publishers of Flyff and Rappelz, and Astrum Nival, developer of Heroes of Might & Magic V and Rage of Mages. The largest game development project in Russian history ($12 million), Allods features state of the art graphics by top award-winning artists and a cinematic soundtrack by Mark Morgan (Dexter, Fallout 1 & 2, Planescape: Torment). The game is one of the largest and most comprehensive MMORPGs ever created, featuring a vast and gorgeously realized world, astral space exploration, and flying ships which can be crewed by multiple parties to explore new realms and pillage other astral travelers. Allods won the Best Game 2009 & Audience Choice awards from the Russian Game Developers Conference.

It plays like alot of mmorpg, with excellent incorporation of the classic styles (questing, gearing etc) with some fresh takes on how to do it all.

From the login, you have the character selection screen:


It is an interesting new way to choose your character, you simply just click which one you want to play. (8 classes, and 6 races)


You have many different option to choose from, but you get the preview of the character in what is assumed to be their end game gear.


The character selection screen is pretty standard with a nice look that isnt an eye sore.


Game play is nice and simply done. A good over all game

This actually looks like a really good game, never heard of it before but the screenys are nice. Might try this out sometime.

Downloading it currently; will tell you what I think when I get a chance to play it. Looks like WoW but more cartoon'y.

Edit: Downloaded it in 20mins, downloaded patch in 20mins, reinstalled patch in 20mins (VERSION CORRUPT RAWR) and now it's broken the entire thing. *throws computer out of window*
Edit2: Eventually got it working, it's alright, the sounds are pretty crap and it reminds me of runescape, but it looks like an ejoyable game you could get quite addicted to.

environment and sounds is the only thing that is better than wow imo. Questing in this game is slightly bit more about running around, it usually takes a bit longer to complete quests as well.

One more thing that do suck, is that you can actually 'donate' for GOLD and items.

This is called a Cash Shop and it is common in free to play games such as this.

Without it, they would most likely be unable to develop the game.

Personally, I would prefer this being pay to play.

The only time i personally prefer Cash Shops are in the beta phases when it does not exist. Often times you will see to progress in the game you need items from the shop, which often times can end up being more costly then a P2P. But, as i said during the beta times most likely the cash shop is closed, therefor a free to play mmorpg with decent gameplay.

Actually in most F2P games such as this, you don't need to ever buy anything from the cash shop unless you're greedy and want too get better quicker.

Unless you want this, then there's no need for the cash shop to be used, meaning 100% free.

True, but it's annoying when you want to respec and you have to find the Water of Life/Death drops from mobs... as opposed to others who just buy it.

Still, good game.
