Theres this picture i want to use as the logo for my brand in clothing design. Its not official and will probably change, but i was wondering how would you get the rights to that picture if you cant find it on the internet anymore?

copyright it? or do you mean someone else used to use it and now you want to use it?
Yea kinda...it was made by someone else but i'd like to test it out on a shirt and if it doesnt come out right or i dont like it then i'll make my own logo which i'll probably end up doing before i go public anyways but i was still wondering?
Like you know when someone copyrights one of their pictures, do you just ask for permission to use/have it or do you have to pay them or?
I might be wrong but I believe you have to pay for your work to be copyrighted, i've had a look around the internet for example Copyright Registration - Effective protection against infringement , and it says its 35 pounds for 5 years. This might vary for what you are trying to copyright though.
Cheers
from the sounds of it i would shoot the guy an email or give him a call to see about it...
There is some data stored in picture files... exif data and stuff... maybe you can also find information about the creator. Right click on the file, click properties, then click "File info" tab...

Most of the times stuff made but digital artist arent really copyrighted..
Altough u should watch out because if it is they could sue u.
It happend today i made website for Client and he sended me some pictures of him made by a photographer (lol spelling).
I was done and launched the website, few hours later i had call from that client that website had to go offline right now.
Or he would have been sued for using pics he didnt have the rights off.
So i suggest contacting the person who made it and tell your story and ask if you can use it.
Altough imo i would make my own logo just because its more fun to really wear something u made but thats me and my job.
