Was being careful with my words but basically that summed up my thoughts...Honestly, I think Kramer was an idiot for doing this...at the same time I think that the double standards and the "racism" bit is getting old when it's used for EVERY act against an African American. My father never hurt any black people, my grandfather never did, and I always try to treat others equally. So the question is, why am I paying for the sins of those so far before me? Honestly, the overuse of the "racism" card is creating more racism. It leaves the idea that we better not say anything negative or do anything negative, because blacks will take it as a color issue. This just bolsters racism doesn't it? I just don't understand why we can't hold the racist comments for severe events like this and obvious cases like job discrimination which REALLY DO hinge on color many times. Otherwise, the African Americans as a group are lowering the value of what their ancestors fought, suffered, and died for by making it into a scapegoat statement for any wrong that is done to them. Just opinion, but worth consideration. We lower the values of many things by taking them for granted and using them too much...hell, look what freedom has gotten us, a disregard for what we have and a general dissatisfaction of the populace with "freedom."
By no means do I think Kramer deserves forgiveness, as a professional he made an utter IDIOT out of himself in attempts at a retort...and his apology was...sad. It was obvious he only had 15 minutes of fame with Seinfeld after seeing all of this and judging for myself.
Aside from that, I personally wish the sensitivity would stop. We have a lot more to worry about than what color one another is...the real issue isn't color, it's culture. Granted some idiots on both sides of the fence are what stokes the fire for racism every time, but why can't we just dismiss them for the unintelligent pricks they are and move on? I've never viewed another race as anything but another person unless I was given a reason to do so, and I would hope for the same courtesy from others. Too often I've seen racism used when in reality, that was the only card people had going for them. It's becoming an eye-roller comment for me unless issues like this Kramer joke come up...is it really such a good idea to use this term so frequently for such a wide range of things that a misguided look brings it out? If so, I think many people are making the word into a reality, which I would suppose is the opposite of what other races (and myself personally) would strive for.
By bolstering racism under equal conditions, I think we seperate races even moreso, rather than bringing together everyone. It seems like a few ignorant people are taking advantage of this and ruining an opportunity for evolution into equality.
What does everyone else think? Just curious, I'm bored and wanted to stir the pot.
