Looking for Linux Help

Rawr. Tis me, Demonkunga. I installed Ubuntu linux today and well, I have never used Linux before, so I am unfamiliar. I also wanted to use Beryl, which hasn't worked yet. :\
One problem is I can't install exe's etc... I have Wine and Crossover, but they don't even open the exe o.o...
Help is appreciated as I don't ask very often. Thank you.

Ehm .. Unix <> exe. Get linux versions of the apps. Download Beryl 0.2.1 for Linux - Beryl is an OpenGL accelerated desktop that seeks to provide a free, open source desktop experience to the community. - Softpedia

Beryl is a really cool prog for linux, this only thing is it takes a while to set up and get it looking good.
here is a pretty good tut on how to do it

and also if you need to run windows programs on your linux box, just download WINE its a windows emulotor

Also, just offhand, I want to load my Firefox settings from my profile I had on Windows. Where the hell is the profile folder on Linux? :\
