Site Rules On Ban Discussion / Justification

So I'm curious.. I can't think up any reasons to defend not openly discussing & making widely available information regarding any user being banned..

Other than.. "this our our site we do what we want"..

Sure sure.. loud & clear.. it's not my site.. not my decision..

Doesn't mean I'm not even more interested.. especially if that's the canned argument of choice..

Showing people why a user was banned may save them from dealing with them elsewhere in the future..

Make them aware of potential scams they didn't know existed..

It may be a show of strength to others that might seek to play out the same scams it's clearly a bannable offense that has been carried out already..

More than anything.. it gives people some semblance of truth in deciding themselves whether to avoid someone..

Since it's common knowledge generally anyone banned from anywhere will either play dumb.. or just say whatever they're just a bunch of **** ups that have no idea what happened anyway..

If you're worried about ban discussions getting out of control.. why is that a concern ? If someone was unjustly banned.. isn't it common courtesy to allow themselves & their peers defend them ?

For someone like myself that has lurked around awhile.. I see site bans with 0 information as shadowy cloak & dagger acts of personal vengeance.. especially when inquiries are met with very short remarks about leave it be..

I'd like to know why ever single user was banned every time I come across one.. & I'd also like them to be aware as well..

You all seem to be the polar opposite though.. why ?

    2. DO NOT ask why another member is banned.

You can see the reason of the ban under the infraction page of that user profile. http://www.ownedcore.com/forums/memb...ctions-content

We don't allow public discussion of the reasons for specific bans because in a community, everyone has a different opinion. We do not need public debates on who should have done what or didn't do something right. We have a report feature and all the staff members can be contacted directly if you wish to discuss something privately.

Some discussion, when made public, are endless and contribute to nearly nothing other than making the community more hostile in general.

agree with parog, anytime we did open up about it - raging horde within a few days on the issue for some reason or other- then someone else always tries to extend the logic that was used to something that isn't relevant.

IE: user got banned for selling stinky socks.
member" why isnt user2 banned for selling socks? is it because they're not stinky? whats wrong with stinky socks. go ban user3 too for selling stinky clothes- its the same thing! fascist pigs!

----- we would slowly turn into tumblr and their sexual identity crisis' -- im a toy duck loving hermaphrodite waiting to be a woman to be lesbian with another female, respect me and my choices for loving ducks! (doesnt make a whole lot of sense but its become that serious of stupid.)

So maybe discussion was a poor word to use.. yeah.. yeah it was..

Inquiries.. Public Inquiries may have been better..

I've asked in the past why someone was banned & been met with a very quick we do not discuss these sorts of things..

So it may have been my mistake not knowing where that Infraction tab is.. next time I see a banned user I'll go looking for that..

I would just think you'd willfully volunteer that information to anyone asking so it's all loud & clear & they can decide for themselves whether to continue to seek that user out..

But in any case.. you've given me as clear an answer as I need :-)

Are you confident this Infraction page isn't a mod only tab ?

When I click your link it just takes me to a blank page of your profile..

And I just so happened upon this guy for an example.. & don't see an infraction tab on his profile either :-/

    Am I missing something ?
