    Paypal Review? Confused? Help?

Well, To make a long story short I ended up getting scammed by a gold selling company for 383 dollars. After a while of noticing finally I had got scammed and they were never going to deliver I ended up opening a dispute with paypal on the matter.

During the dispute period which was opened on April 2nd I wrote out long detailed explanations of what happened step by step through out the days after the purchase and everything I did and logs of everything during contact with the company and me. The company responded once to the dispute during this time and just simply said i had bought virtual goods from them and they had been delivered and that's all. To which I submitted more proof without even being asked by paypal since this was still during the dispute period of all the conversations and every single waking moment I spent through out the days waiting on my order from the company and basically trying to prove that they hadn't never delivered and were lying.

After the company had responded that one time with their short message they never responded again. So on April 8th I was able to escalate the dispute to a claim. To which once again I gave paypal all the information I had to the point it took 3 post of maximum amount of characters allowed in a message. At that point paypal showed that they were waiting on a response from the seller and that if by April 18th they had not heard anything back it would be reviewed by paypal and then I would assume that I would be fully refunded.

Well I woke up today in surprise to find that the Claim had been updated today "A claims specialist is reviewing your case." So I thought maybe the seller finally responded back so I decided to look at the log of comments/messages to find that there still had been NO Reponse from the seller. To which I'm a bit confused. So at that point neither me nor the seller can no longer post messages/comments on the claim. Says "A claims specialist is reviewing your case." "We'll contact you with any developments or if we require additional information from you by Apr 29, 2015."

Why is paypal reviewing the case earlier than April 18th? The seller still had 6 days to respond. Is it due to the fact paypal has noticed the amount of information and proof i already have and the lack of communication that the seller put forth to even try to resolve or counter act my claims? What could this mean from here? At this point if they don't need any more information and if I am going to get refunded will it happen before or after the April 29th? Could this be over before the 29th?

P.s I paid with Paypal Balance as well.

Here's a guide I wrote a while ago, you might find a few helpful tips inside: http://www.ownedcore.com/forums/news...ml#post3270599 ([Guide] Protecting yourself from PayPal chargebacks as a seller)

Now to answer some of your concerns:

    1) Never wait for PayPal to resolve a dispute / claim on their own. Always try to call them and see if it's possible to get it solved over the phone / have them close the dispute or claim in your favor.

Their agents who work at different departments have so much power when it comes to disputes & claims. You might have to call them a few times before you get the right agent that will actually help you out. I've personnally done this on multiple occasions as a seller. You might call the first time - the agent will tell you they can't do anything and it will have to wait - which almost is almost not true most of the times.

    2) If you sent your money as gift / friends & family then you automatically lose your "buyer protection". It basically means that PayPal will rule the dispute / claim in the seller's favor as soon as you tell them it's an intangible item - the only way out of this is to claim an unauthorized transaction.

    3) You made a mistake by escalating it into a claim. You have a better chance of winning a dispute as a buyer for an intangible good compared to a claim because of how protection works. (Buyer loses all protection when it's escalated to a claim because PayPal does not cover intangible goods & services - meaning they will always side with the seller).

    Good luck next time.

    I'll try Number 1.

Number 2 it wasn't sent money as a gift/friend. It was bought with paypal via website.

Number 3 How would you win a dispute as a buyer if the seller straight up lies or straight up never replies to the dispute? Didn't think there was a point in the process of a dispute that if it wasn't worked out between the buyer/seller within a period of time that you would be refunded?

#3 - That's why escalating was a bad idea and won't help your case. You should have kept it as a dispute and called PayPal, that way you have protection. But as soon as you escalate it to a claim, you lose all protection because it's an intangible good / service.

Let me know what PayPal tells you when you give them a call.

But I don't blame you, many people don't know the difference between a dispute and a claim.

So if the seller escalates it to a claim, then the buyer loses the protection?

Yes, like i said - many people are not aware of that. But that's how it works. That's why I said call PayPal while it's still a dispute - the buyer will get his money back.

    Dispute:

By opening a dispute, you’re asking the seller to resolve a problem with a transaction. You can communicate with each other by posting messages in the Resolution Centre until you reach an amicable solution.

    Claim:

By escalating, you’re choosing not to communicate any further with the other person and asking PayPal to investigate the case and decide the outcome.

As soon as a dispute is escalated to a claim, then calling PayPal won't do anything as the agents cannot close the claim. You will have to wait for the verdict from their investigation team. So calling PayPal while it's still a dispute is key, agents are able to close the dispute in your favor.

And when PayPal reviews the transaction, they will simply side with the seller because it's an intangible good / service.

See I think paypal is just retarded then by always siding with the seller on a intangible good / services no matter what the case is. That screws buyers who are legit did get scammed and ****ed over out of their money. I mean I wouldn't really care if it was a smaller sum of money but basically what your saying is that paypal is just going to automatically side with the buyer on this and hes going to get away with never delivering and I'm going to be screwed out of near 400 dollars which for me is a decent sum of money since it's about a quarter of what I make per month.

Honestly If I don't get what I paid for from the buyer, Then get screwed by paypal for 400 dollars. I don't really know what I will do. At this point I know I will never be buying digital/virtual goods/services ever again but this type of shit really pisses me off and making me depressed because that money could of been used for something else since I didn't get what I really paid for and wanted and now im basically screwed both in-game and real life.

It can go both ways, I have been scammed on both sides of the transaction process - selling and buying.

At this point, the best you can do, is report them for scamming on every single trade board on every single website, post any additional information you find on them, and post that too. Then after all is said and done, wait for them to contact you. I remember when the owner/admin on a very popular trade forums he had created was scamming. Best thing I could do, was similar, so people wouldn't also be scammed.

Well, the dispute is done and they denied me my claim and the company won due to it being a intangible item. So basically never got what I paid for, they got the 383 dollars and I got ****ed.

The worst part about it all though is the fact I gave so much proof showing that they had lied and hadn't delivered. I mean come on even on their website I can look up my order and plain as day still says ready for delivery! So heads up to anyone don't buy from Goldah/MMOWin. Screwed me out of near 400 dollars for 500k gold. Now I not only lost most of a pay check but can't afford to di what I wanted to do this month in-game. As well now I got to wait until my next pay check and once again go out on a limb with another site and buy 500k gold and hopefully not get ****ed again.

There are many very high repped - trustworthy sellers on Ownedcore, not sure why you would want to buy from a website.
