The worst day in my life

So, one day, in my life (Today) i decided i would try out Linux! I didn't know a sh't about it. I asked around, they adviced me to try out "Ubuntu". I watched some videos of it on Youtube, and i thought it looked so cool, i would give it a shot.

half an hour later, I've managed to format my PC, and only had one thing on it....

Ubuntu.

I used several hours (Not really, just around 20 minutes, but hours sounded better) trying to install my wireless drivers, so i could connect to the internet. Then, i finaly realised, i had to move my computer downstairs, and connect via a cable.

So, i managed to connect to the internet. I was asking myself "How am I going to clean up this mess?". After talking to myself on the Shoutbox thingy (Only for Donators, Contributors, and moderators) because everyone ignored me, I found out, i had to install Windows again.

I "borrowed" my mum's windows CD, as my dad currently got mine, i started trying to install Windows.

After watching the pain of windows telling me to press enter to install, while nothing happened while i pressed enter, I took my mum's keyboard.

Then, I sat down infront of my mum's computer, and was going to write this story about my day. Then, I figured out that i had no keyboard for it, so i took my keyboard, connected it, waiting a minute while all those yellow boxes down in the right told about how it found it, and how it was installing it, and blah blah blah, then started writing this.

I went back to my computer, pressed enter to install Windows, when i got a bluescreen of death.

So, I asked around. I got an advise, that i should try to install another Linux version, and then try to install Windows. I used 6 CDs on that, before I didn't bother to try anymore.

I tried several ways to do this, tried to format the drives, and it didn't work. Till i changes one little part of the syntax of the command, and I did finaly beat Linux!

I re-booted the computer... Watched in silence while the text started appearing... And was so happy when i saw it required an boot-CD!

Linux was dead! I had managed to kill it!

So, i booted up from the windows CD,
but the happy feeling was over...

the same problem.
Blue screen of death.

I thought over the progress,
The start up screen in the beginning, with the "press f12 to enter boot menu". The intel logo. The acer logo.

Then I becomme happy again, I ran upstairs, and started looking for it.

"Acer E recovery"

Booted the computer from it...

Watched how it started up...

And was so god damn happy when I saw it fixing up my messed up computer.

I'm currently watching at my computer every 10 seconds while writing this, its around 50%, and after 15 minutes more, it should be ready.

Just being able to write this calmed me a little down.

What have i learned today?
Never trust swedish people. Atleast not when they recommend you trying out something.

Also, Windows suck. its slow, and i hate it.
But still, its easy to use. I've learned allot about it, and its going to be hard to switch from it.
Linux is great. But i got no idea how to use it, so i should maybe try to learn a bit more about it, before i do this again. ><

next time dont format windows, just format a section on ur drive for linux.. or grab another hd.. if your gonna mess with your computer just expect for everything that could possibly go wrong to GO WRONG!!! otherwise don't mess with it in the first place...
this doesnt justify the thread title "Worst day ever".. by a long shot.

eh, its 'his' worst day ever. Perfectly possible, specially if his dad'll get pissed at him for messing up his comp *shrug* Some people go through life without anything bad happening to them ^^ Lucky them *grumbles*

i also did have similar problem whit linux :P
PS: use moka5 (moka5 | www.moka5.com) to test the linux and learn about it more

O God when I saw the title "Worst day ever" I thought it was gunna be one of those stories about another guy who got dumped by his girlfriend and now cuts himself to get over it blah blah blah my life sucks.
