Alright so a couple weeks back I suggested that we add Wowhead tooltips (?-demo here) to the site for making guides a lot more easy to follow, nice looking, and just fun. I was told it was suggested before, and turned down. They say it will eat up to much bandwidth and slow the site down. BUT! what if we didn't make it server side? What if it wasn't implemented into the site and just on your PC? It wouldn't slow anything down at all, that's what. Well, lucky for us that is possible and very easy to do using a very popular web browser called Firefox.
Requirements:
-Firefox web browser (Get it here!)
-Greasemonkey Addon (Get it here!)
What is Greasemonkey?
Greasemonkey allows you to run your own, or previously created Java scripts to change a website's look or functionality. It doesn't affect anything server side, only client.
Everything is free and if your not using Firefox already, start! Firefox is an amazing browser with a huge community base that is always advancing.
Installation:
1. Install Firefox and Greasemonkey
2. Head over to HERE
3. Click "Install" at the top right of the page
4. Firefox will automatically recognize that you are installing a new script for Greasemonkey.
5. Allow the install process and wait for it to finish
And your done! Now while browsing MMOwned, any time there is a wowhead link, it will come up with a tooltip that looks just like ingame.
Enjoy!
Note: This works for everything wowhead related meaning spells, quests, achievements, and much more.
