You can host a Ventrilo server for up to 8 people on your own desktop, anything more than that and you need a license from the Ventrilo company.

Since the licensing for hosting more than 8 users isn't free, it's extremely unlikely that you'll find any ad-supported, or free Ventrilo hosting.

However, if you don't need more than 8 people on your Vent, just run it on your desktop PC, open port 3784 on your router, and you're good to go.

I believe if you have web domain hosting you can inter-tie that into vent to run it for free as well. I read something about it somewhere that way your not bogging down your PC (for the 8 user limit of course)

use ventrilo 2.1, it has no limit in users, i dont think there is a fixed 3.0 server out (what you find on google/p2p/torrent sites are all viruses)
