I am in fact American, and it helps that I'm on my way to a degree in English so thank you. The fact is many people shy away from discussions of suicide especially when it comes to children. As if just the mere spoken word could give the youth of the nation, let alone the youth of the world the idea that suicide is okay. Therefore it does ,more often than not, go on as an unspoken issue. To Write Love on Her Arms has been working for years now to change this.
Also, why do you mention infractions? This is general chat I assume your free to speak as long as you think before you do so and post what you believe to be truth.

I've had a friend of mine lose her brother to suicide and I support what you are doing. Good luck with it.

To Superizm & TimmeH32 This is what i found about the meaning of the title

"But then three years ago, i met a girl named Renee and the five days that followed moved some things around in me. i wrote a story called "To Write Love on Her Arms", made a MySpace page to give the story a home, and ordered 200 t-shirts as a way to raise money for Renee's treatment. The surprising response to that humble beginning led to something of a crossroads and in July of 2006, i decided to quit my job at Hurley to pursue TWLOHA full-time. The rest, i suppose, is history." Quoted directly from their site To Write Love on Her Arms > Blog . After reading through much of the blog, and alot of comments, I can tell everyone in TWLOHA is doing something great for the world,
:yourock2: is all I can say

The to write love on her arms is quite possibly the most pathetic "organization" of this century. It's a shame you need Hot Topic and crappy bands to make teenagers aware of these issues. Brilliant market scheme for awareness. These kids only wear it because their favorite bands do. This isn't going to stop them from cutting for attention or because their friends are.

Think for yourself. Have your own opinions, not what a band you like does.

To each their own, I've talked with a friend who cut, and yeah... they know exactly what they are doing. Rather than awareness and marketing (IE: religious institutions and 10% tithe.. all lies) you should be out there helping them.

Same difference as giving a bum food money, you watch him go and buy drugs (in this case shirts for more awareness) this serves no purpose. Go buy the guy a damn cheeseburger.(Talk and become their friend, help rather than send money)

    Awareness does nothing. Doing does.

I didn't want to be the first one to come off as an *******, but I agree. It could possibly stop a few of the sheep who cut themselves because it's glamorized in shitmusic, but no one really cares about them anyway. For the people that have serious problems and inflict pain on themselves because of psychological issues, this "awareness" won't do shit.

At the end there I thought you were going for the old Timothy Leary bit, "Think for yourself, question authority." - Anyone?
    Welcome back Idusy tard :P

I know there probably isn't any reason in my putting this here, as it might start a flame war, but i hate it when people say that most people do it for attention, or atleast some, it gives a bad name to those that really do need help... there are many reasons why one person could ever do it, not just a select reason, so there isn't a "real reason" anyone should or shouldn't do it, some do it for the need of having control over there life, some people can't mourn and need to let out the pain other ways, and others might enjoy the pain. There are more than that in reasons, I for one, know a few people that are in a bad state in life, but im helping them through it no matter what, im helping them turn there life around becasue SOMEONE has to care for those that has no one left to turn to, and they all know im going to be there for them no matter what they do, because they have learnt to trust me, and i am slowly helping all off them stop.

So before you socialize all the people into one group next time, stop, and think for a second, maybe there are things under the layer that people put on all the time, and when they get home it gets worse and worse.

Thats my part to this, I support this, even though the main reasons aren't for all help, it still makes people more aware of the persons feelings.
