People that live in Germany - Some questions

Hey,

As few of you know know, I moved to Germany a month ago.

Now, my dad told me not to use Bittorrent anymore as he didn't want any trouble ( They told him it's REALLY bad in here, spanish government rly doesn't care but he's been told the german gov really watches after it ... ) so he bought me a MegaUpload account so I could get games and movies...

But the only thnig that sucks is, I can't get songs unless I get a whole album... same with videos ( small ones, 10min-20min ).

My question is... I got a friend at school who says he's been using Ares for 2 years in Germany and never had a problem with police or anything... What programs do you use? Im really scared to use anything else than megaupload.

I'll take any suggestions,

I live in Austria, but there arent tooo many differences between Germany and Austria, i think.
I download things since 5 years, with things like htorrent, Limewire,.. and so on
Ares isnt that bad i think :-)
I dont mind the police :O

I know Austria is similar country, but when it comes to government every country is different, that's why I wanna know if other german people use these programs or not.

I use uTorrent since a decent amount of time already and never had problems with the police, but yeah if they catch you, you are pretty ****ed.

As some sort of protection i am using PeerGuardian2, it observes the IPs of the incoming connections; blocks or accepts them depending on if they are on the blacklist. On the blacklists are IPs of Anti P2P companies. Atm i'm using 2 lists, a "default" one that's from the PeerGuardian website and automatically updates itself and another one i downloaded off some site. Currently those 2 lists are blocking 2.666.265.863 IPs :P

Yeah that's why im scared coz I heard there's people that download from you to take ur IP and screw you....

How long have you been using P2P or torrents?

i might consider getting Ares for music since my friend has it and never had a problem :/

On the other side I use MegaUpload and 0 problems YET ( just been a month in Germany )... So I am kinda scared to use anything else than MU.

I would but torrent won't download at all if you turn off Upload or lower it too much...
