INTRO
So, you've finally discovered the world of torrents. You're excited to have access to such a vast network or applications and such, BUT, you are inexperienced and confused about some of the fundamentals. No worries! This guide will teach you how to properly torrent and. hopefully, avoid potential viruses.
Step 1 - Finding a download
So you've realized that you don't have Photoshop CS4 (filler program) and you really don't want to pay for it. First, we go to my personal favorite torrent site, The Pirate Bay (Download music, movies, games, software! The Pirate Bay - The world's largest BitTorrent tracker). Put in a search for "Photoshop CS4 extended" and hit enter. Woah, there's loads of downloads and you don't know which one to choose! It's ok, try to find on that has lots of seeders and, if possible, a small number of leechers. Once you've found your torrent, go ahead and click on the link that will take you to the torrent's page.
Step 2 - Obtaining a torrent application downloader
Oh no! You were so excited to download your first torrent that you overlooked the single most important aspect of downloading torrents. It's ok. The main two programs that I use are bittorrent and utorrent. Just go search for either of them on google.
Step 3 - Torrenting your files
Click the link on your torrent's site that says "Click here to download <photoshop>." Once it downloads, run it to have your torrenting program open with a dialogue box of some sort. Here, you can select wich parts of your torrent you would like to download (some may only have one file), but be VERY CAREFUL. Try to make sure that any .exe files or .dll files are safe.
Step 4 - Opening your downloaded files
Right click on the torrent that is now complete and click the option to open file, or go to containing folder. Once you find your files, make sure to read any and all instructions before execution/installation.
Step 5 - Seeding
As some of you know, the only way for the RIAA to obtain information about people's downloading habits, your service provider (eg. Comcast, Verizon, etc.) needs to reveal it to them. Lucky for us, they don't care enough to do that so for the time being, we are safe to seed our torrents for other's downloading. It is essential to a torrent's existence that you seed after downloading is complete! Seeding is how you obtained all your files in the first place, so don't be a lazy leecher!
Disclaimer
I don't take any responsibility for what/how you download anything. It's not my fault if you got a virus on your computer. This guide was made to be instruct and educate the nonsensical people of this forum. It was made to help, not harm.
Thank you all and happy torrenting!
