So, in convo with my law prof (who also plays wow!) we came across the topic of the goldfarmer spam crap.
We thought with our vague knowledge of tax law (Canadian sorry americans, i don't study your law) we thought that we could bring down gold sites, or just threaten to, report them to the Canada Revenue agency for tax evasion.
Our theory (add tips or demolish it, i would like to know one way or the other): In essence, they are taking from the Canadian economy. Very traceable with credit card purchases, no? In most cases, when an item is bought online, it would be caught at the border. With the border less internet, its not traceable in game. Online sites are made to pay import taxes, tariffs, ect. and if they chose, have the customer pay for it apon arrival.
So, just take the site of the add just spammed at you, and talk to ther Customer Service. If all else fails, Canada revenue has a 24 hour "reporting" line.
Things to ponder : )
