What race should I go for my new Alliance Mage...?

Personally I'd say be a Drenai.

gnome mage = 5% extra mana
human mage = 5% extra spirit (mana regen)
drenei = HoT

I was probably going to go gnome and i think i will, I just wanted to get a feel for what people thought of Draenei racials.

if you're making it for pvp uses, you will really regret rolling ally, i have a 49 warrior twink (ally) and i have only won 1 warsong on him since he was 49. but yeah, gnomes are amazing, i love the engineering and escape artist.

Yeah, if you plan on EVER pvping, do -NOT- roll alliance, a BE or UD Mage would be nice if you're looking at racial skills.

I wouldn't vote human mage, you get tired of their casting animation FAST, unless of course you plan on model changing
Perception is nothing great anyway, it helps you find, specifically, rogues, and if a rogue is going to try and stun lock you - blink, or if he starts with an ambush, frost nova and stop him in his tracks, or until a vanish, but theirs tons of things mages can do to stop rogues, and rogues are nothing to worry about at ALL.

Gnome could be nice with the ability to get rid of their holds and slows, but still, i'de go for horde chars.

Hmm, interesting thoughts.

I guess the main reason why i would roll alliance is that I have a bunch of gold on Alliance side.
The other reason why i wouldnt roll horde is that I dont know anything about the cities or races.

But, thanks for the thoughts on PvP, Although I must say that the PvP on my server is pretty Alliance dominated.

I didn't have any gold on horde either, but you can be amazed by how much you can accomplish on casters, you don't need new gear EVERY level, heck, i've had gear for like, 10 levels and still do perfectly fine, gold shouldn't be a huge deal (and i don't even have professions, i just kill and loot, sell the loot, win).

I've always thought starting a lock would be fun, basically just a class that is awesome in PvP/Arena.

To be truely honest, I currently do not have an active account for WoW, Im sort of giving it up just for the time being... for some strange reason my school grades are much better when I DON'T play. Go figure! lol.

Despite me not actually currently playing WoW, I still love these forums and just recently I have been looking into a new class to roll when i get back to playing again.
