Well If You have ever had to change the 'Codec' on your Vent so you can hear/listen, here's a simple way to fix it!
I found out about this today from a guildie 'cause im the only Mac User in my guild and the Guild Vent always gives me a 'Codec' Problem when I use Ventrilo, and for raiding, they have to change it so I can hear/chat and that makes one of our hunter's have a major problem with chatting (sounds awful and kills everyones ears)..
Well, This is basically a Windows Emulator.
It makes the Application think it's being run on Windows = You can download Windows Ventrilo, use it with Wine (The Windows Emulator) and BOOM No More 'Codec' Problems !!
