I doint know i just thought that you bot lovers out there maby wanted to know this that the bot program have gone so far so blizzard have sued Michael Donnelly the creator of the wow glider.

Why do we care? They will not sue the users, just the creator of the bot.

Blizzard probually sues glider & openbot every major patch

I don't think blizzard will ever comple3tely banish bots consittering you have to pay for Glider Elite/Glider Pro or whatever

OpenBot hasn't and won't ever be sued. It's freely open source. Worst that would happen is Blizzard would request it to be taken down. (No single person runs OB. So they can't really sue anybody)

Post from the Glider forums, this is the latest documents regarding the case I believe, I read them a few days ago and there's some pretty interesting stuff, if you're into the law then i highly recommend you have a read.

Blizzard and MDY both filed today. I'm linking to the motions with their corresponding statements of fact. The actual exhibits are out there on PACER, but they're extremely painful for mortals like me to access. Anyone who gets into it at that depth knows how to get them off the public record.

There are some interesting facts hidden in these... and some really interesting legal discussion as well.

As usual, we can't really discuss the merits of the case. However, unlike before, these documents contain our thoughts - so if you've been waiting to see what we have to say, that time is now. Fight through the legalese if you want to pick it up now, or give it a few weeks to soak through the blogosphere and get some legal opinions out there.

IANAL but if you read through the documentation from start to finish (ie all the earlier papers too including their original filings) their case seems pretty shaky and looks like it can be beaten down fairly easily. Hopefully Mercury wins, not to protect the future of Glider, but rather so no precedent is set that says such software is illegal to develop.
