ok, I am 20 yrs old, currently unemployed, and no car insurance...

I was driving, and at a stop light a lady in front of me started to go, but her car must have been in neutral or something because when the light turned green, her brake lights turned off, but then she didn't go anywhere, when her brake lights turned off, I started going and hit her at about 5 mph.. I put my car in park, walked up to her and she asked if I could back up a little, I did so and she started to get out of her car, but left it out of gear and it rolled back and hit my car at about the same speed... there was no damage to either car, but now she has claimed that there was damage to her bumper... (the whole driver side of her car was smashed in from a previous incident)

now she has filed a claim with her insurance, and I owe her $702.00 because she decided to get her entire bumper fixed at my expense (there was no damage from me) and it says medical charges pending...

I want to fight this to the fullest extent that I can, but I have no clue what to do from here... I'm just sitting here with her name/address and a bill from her insurance for $702....

Well it seems that it is her fault, because at first there was no damage, but after her car was left in gear and hit your car, it would be her fault. But if collision 1 had done damage then it could be your fault.

In denmark it goes this way: If you drive a car and you drive into something, lets say a shop. Then you will have to pay it all, even if it wasnt your fault, the reason for this: because you dont have any insurance... that is how it is most times.

then again this is in denmark... but perhaps talk to a lawyer, dunno maybe verye can help u out or ask the police for help?

If you are able to prove there was no damage done to the bumper, you win. I really suggest getting a lawyer. And if you tell us what country/state if you're american you live in, we can check up on the local laws and see if there's anything else.

yea the whole reason it sucks is that, there was no witnesses so its my word against hers, and I hit her from behind and had no insurance so they are automatically gonna look at me as the bad guy...

I suppose I'll talk to a lawyer, thanks guys!
