It seems more like the fact that we arrest people for using abusive substances is a bad thing - No shit. It's a medicine for people with cancer and diseases, it helps stop the pain in serious injuries and relieve the old who know they're soon to die of pain due to aging.
NOT 'make yourself feel good,' or some random ass bullshit like that. Sure, we waste millions of dollars a year keeping those who abuse the substance in jail when we could spend less - and eventually near nothing if all goes well - fixing the problem rather then sending them to jail, but the point is they shouldn't have been abusing the stuff in the damn first place. If you want to get high, stick a ****ing marker up your nose and breath REAL HARD LIKE.
