Attempt at drawing Kat Dennings

I've been really busy with my work this summer so I haven't had much time at all to draw. But few days ago urge to draw came back and I started to draw again.
I've drawn Kat Dennings twice now and first attempt looked nice, but when it was almost finished I tried to erase the shadow on her nose abit and it ruined the drawing totally. Ended up shredding the eraser to lil pieces and burned it on the grill

Currently don't have anyone on the list and I am right handed.
Will start another project in 2 weeks as then my summer job ends.

If you could post the reference photo you use to draw this that would be great .

There are some criticisms I have and I assume you want to hear them.

The ear looks odd, like it is being pinched inward (unless this is what her ear actually looks like).

There hair seems clumpy and greasy from all the shine. It looks weird because it gives the appearance there are light sources everywhere, rather than just one spot.

The bottom right of the nose looks off (too large on bottom right side), but you already said that, and I think noses always look weird.

Looking at photos of her, her top lip looks a bit too large and the distance from her mouth to the nose is just a little bit too wide. Her head also seems a bit too wide and not as long as it is in real life.


I would recommend trying to draw some more bone structure such as in her cheeks, creases like above her lip, and more pronounced details around the eyes, especially below. If someone is smiling I would expect some more creases in the face and that her cheekbones be more pronounced. The picture just looks too smooth and undefined in my opinion.

Just noticed the same thing about the ear, shame that I can't fix it anymore. Already used fixatine on this :|
Hair is dark and I haven't had much practice with it as many of my drawings reference photo has light hair on it. Trying to improve on that by drawing random hair on paper.

Her top lip is large in reference photo o.o

There are many things I need to improve on and one is patience. At end of this I rushed through it and it looked way worse before I decided to fix it abit before scanning and poking it here.

Going to try again after 2 weeks after summerjob has ended.
