Title: Defence
My idea for this project was to reveal the topic of deforestation through the light of war.
The set starts off with a piece I titled "Assault," a photograph of a plant that I thought, if plants were going to war, would easily be the mothership; I saw the wild branches as sort of scrambled fighters, like an assault of fighter jets.
The next piece in the set is the secret weapon, the "Sleeping Giant."
The next piece is a throwback to Assignment 4, an open invitation for others to join the cause against deforestation.
The fifth piece was titled "Pick A Side." I was walking my favorite path one day, and I noticed a clearing off to the side, a secret forest-type area, with this magical truck in the middle of it -- posed right up next to its favorite tree, as if to protect it. When I originally found it, I did not have my camera, and when I came back the next day the lighting was not what I thought captured the "golden magic," so I came back later and finally got what I thought to be the perfect shot.
The sixth piece was titled "No Tresspassing," which is another throwback from Assignment 4, with the lighting changed because I didn't like the first one. This one is kind of a warning, angled to give a good view of the tall trees in the background.
The next piece was a "Transition," a foreshadowing, kind of.
The seventh picture in this set was titled "The Beginning," and it illustrated the start of the attack on plant life, with a gradient from green wildlife (on the left) to dead and bare remnants of the destruction caused by the claw truck.
The next picture is titled "Yellow," and I placed this after "The Beginning" to highlight the yellow of the truck in the previous picture, as if to say that it has left its mark.
The ninth picture in this set is titled "Aftermath," to show the results of this "war" against plant life. I tried to bring out the green in the small plant in the bottom of the picture to highlight a contrast between the amount of green in the first picture, and the amount of green in the "Aftermath."
The last picture of this set is titled "Defence." I tried to get down real low and angle this picture so that the "Stop" sign landed right in the middle of the giant plantlife behind the fence, as if to relay the message straight from the forest itself; as if this message was its last defense. "Stop deforestation."
(I understand defense is spelled wrong, it's a play on words with the fence that the stop sign rests upon)
Code:The easiest way to view it is at the gallery site of it on my deviantart, since the images are so large http://xriptide.deviantart.com/gallery/43627754
