[Banner Art] Photoshopin

So i started watching a lot of Photoshop tutorials online recently so i can make much better use of the application. I Made a guild banner to start off with, opinions and ideas on improvement are greatly appreciated.

Although ive had the program a while ive never really made good use of it until recently but i do enjoy using it when i do

i like the text but its a little hard to read

unless the image is "extended" (or part of a bigger piece) to the webspace around the banner, no borders is no bueno.

- a couple things could be done, forest theme on the sides of the entire page etc
- a fade-away style to blend into the webspace
- hard edge "picture frame", depends heavily on the rest of the webspace (IE, metal wood, web2.0, plastic looking, childish colors, etc)

the text is barely legible, even for a spirity ethereal feel.) a drop in opacity and straighting of the text would do. if you wish to have the 2 characters the focus of the image, de-saturate everything else,the background beyond that would do with a further de-saturation & brightness to show depth, while the plants nearest us darker

I found it difficult to find an adequate text which looked good visually but also remained readable through the wave distortion and blur effects Cheers Remus i'll have a fiddle with it, alot of the tools i havnt even used yet so takes me a while to find it

I am by no means a expert, or anything close to it for that matter, but to me it looks like a simple photo, taken with a camera, so if you add some sort of fitting effect to it, i am not sure about the terminology here, but something like making it bit less plain, not sure how to express myself here ;<
Like adding a filter to it, but not photoshop filter, rather like a colored filter while taking a photo, to add to the 'feel' of it, and it would be nice.
I did see Reflection use the thing im trying to explain in some pictures, making them awesome in Emulator Servers section
I suppose what im trying to say is that even the gradient black, with less opacity would make it look allot better :<

That's most likely just a topaz filter. Don't use it for this type of thing.
