10 stars for you! That's exactly the objective now.

I've started with debugging the swtor.exe in Visual Studio 2010.

You can find the launch parameters for the .exe in the swtor_launching.js, lines 278 and 279.
Those are ofcourse buggy, but they allow the client to start.

Make sure you have r6 version (I just uploaded it), because in the r5, the swtor.exe path was buggy. r6 should work fine.

Yup I already started opening files into my compiler and fiddling around. Thanks for the tips. I'll look into them.

    Cool, cool.

So, we're gonna move our asses to a closed forum in a day or two, obviusly for security reasons. In the meantime, how can I find an admin here? I wanna make sure this thread will be deleted right after we start using the closed forum.

update: I already asked a moderator to delete this thread. If the closed forum is up, I'll let you guys know in email.

And... is there a way to follow you on this closed forum ?
My competence is not relevant to your project, clearly. But, eh, I am quite eager to run this beta -- as a lot of people, indeed.
Anyway, I wish you to suceed.
(And sorry for my broken English -- I'm just totaly French)

This game uses HeroEngine. You can get access to it (HeroCloud | HeroEngine), and a server in their cloud, if you claim to be an MMO developer. I've had it for a while, and have been decompiling it into C, and working on extracting the assets, like the scripts, which are written in HeroScriptLanguage. That's where all of the work is done, in those scripts. Bioware developed this game mostly in HeroScript, not C++. They have written some C++, but it's stuff that's probably unimportant to making an emulator, like graphical and interface enhancements.

The most feasable way to make an emulator is to make it on HeroCloud, which is for indie MMO developers. There is the problem that we won't own the server, but it's a start.

Another game that uses this engine is Faxion. It's free-to-play, so you can check it out. It's got the same patcher, and the same engine minus BioWare's enhancements.

Also, to play the bik movies, install http://www.radgametools.com/down/Bink/RADTools.exe

So would/could it be as easy as getting a HeroCloud and re configuring what I'm guessing are a couple of lines in swtor_dual.icb and swtor_launching.js?

EDIT: Well if it's any consolation, I reached past the splash screen where the 'Choose your realm', 'settings', 'credits', and 'cinematics' are at my disposal. However, there are obviously no servers there because you're not logged in. Still pretty cool though! Now I'm beginning to see the extent of how much is going to need to be rewritten and altered until you can just boot up the game independently on your computer.

Hmm, I appear to be stuck. Can't get the game to patch all the way. So I'm either missing something or their servers are down.

Well, to be honest, noone can follow us to those forums. It has only 1 reason: security. Now of course, if we ever manage to make something useable (even if its.. say just getting to the character generation), you guys will know about it, promise. But in the meantime, the less ppl follows our work, the better.

Strodias: mail me your results please.

    Please can someone help?

I'm trying to install the client. But every time I run setup it doesn't finish. And the one time it did it said something about my processor being to SLOW to run SWTOR and asked if I wished to continue? I selected OK and the error pop up please insert disk 1 appeared. This occured after, ACCEPTING the terms agreement. Can someone help me with this issue? My system is CPU - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU Q 720 @ 1.60GHz, CPU Speed - 1.71 GHz. System RAM - 7.9 GB, Video Card - ATI display adapter (0x68A0), Sound Card - Realtek High Definition Audio, and my Operating System - Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit. I'm using an Asus G73JH-A1 laptop. Does it matter where I run the TOR_SETUP I'm using a shortcut on desktop to launch setup. Does the setup have to be in a specific folder or something?
