Looking for Ranger help.. never played PoE before

Ay there friends & frenemies.. I'm looking for some advice on making a ranger..

I'm not looking to top any ladders.. just another game to dick around on besides WoW..

I want to be ranged.. maintain range & kill from range..

Some builds I've seen that seem like something I'd like to play are Tornado shot or Ice Shot with an Essence Drain swapper for tough single target..

Anybody have any advice or recommendations or other things to consider ?

Again I'll say.. I know absolutely nothing about these game.. those builds & "get a loot filter" are all I've learned thus far..

Hi, been playing a few years so I'll try and help you with some suggestions.

Tornado shot is great for new players, as it can be used as clear and ST at the same time.

However, ranged can also be wands and they seem to be pretty good right now.

This is a build for kinetic blast, this build excels at map clearing and can and will offscreen a lot of mobs, sort of a built in defense in that regard.

Can be very expensive however, but for 99% of people you can play this build then work up to GG gear later on.

This is Spectral Throw, a ranged attack that uses melee weapons, excellent skills IMO, acts every differently to most ranged skills in game.

Edit: There's also this, a tornado show/lightning arrow build which can clear all content in the game, I have played a similar build in the past, very powerful but potentially very pricey due to how the build scales.

Yeah man Tornado Shot is what I'd like to do.. is the Lightning Arrow more of a single target secondary for hard targets ?

I totally did do Bestiary Softcore too :-)

I'm level 2.. lol.. once I figure out the build & where to spend the points I'll level quickly though..

I got a lootfilter.. going to try NeverSink or OneFilterToRuleThemAll

Funny story I don't actually know how to add a friend in PoE but I'm sure it's easy enough.. social settings like any game I'd imagine :-D

But I'd be interested in & all help ^_^

Once I get to a point I can kill things myself I'll actually have a good time grinding.. kinda like it :-D

In the case of this build TS and LA are both clear skills, with the addition of a skill called barrage for single target.

This build does the "extreme" in using two bows, one for ST and one for clear, swapping between both as needed.

Personally I think for a new player only Tornado Shot is needed, and if you ever feel inclined to do boss content you should be able to afford a second bow for the dedicated single target.

Also, seeing as how you are very new, if you want to spoil some of the mechanics and content of the game the youtuber I am about to link makes some very good guides, he pronounces things very clearly which I feel is important as the game has a very heavy EU population.

Any idea why never sink is giving me that error ?

One filter tonrule them all loaded no problem.

The never sink I downloaded is a .filter file & everything.

Maybe a bad one. Corrupt download.

Or any idea why that happened?
