Terraria - 2D Minecraft

Hey i was just wondering if anyone else on the forum played Terraria, it's an awesome game that i think was based off of Minecraft. It's a 2d sidescroller sandbox where the object of the game is to survive. Theres really cool features like bosses, dungeons, and world events that will occur randomly or if you activate items to do so. It's only $10 on steam if anyone's interested and it's $30 for a 4-pack if you wanna pool your money with some friends. It's a really addicting game, I bought it not even a week ago and i already have over 45 hrs played. It's also really easy to host a server via port-forwarding or hamachi, and it can be really entertaining to play with some friends and turn PVP-mode on

It gets boring after a day of singleplayer tbh, and the multiplayer is singleplayer with a friend... It needs more features, more biomes, more bosses and especially more enemies, atm it's just a cheap try to ride on the wings of Minecraft for money.

i found a way to experience the game from a completely new perspective... join a server with a friend(s) and after a day, have everyone turn on pvp mode. use the grace period to build your own house or whatever and fight for control of NPCs and such. blow up your friends houses and have a blast steal their loot out of their chests

4. Uninstall the game
5. Log on to minecraft & have fun for more than a day.

I found it 10x better than minecraft. minecraft is to simple and gets boring after an hour.


If your not playing terraria on a server then your doing it wrong.

Yeah, i played Terraria for almost 3 days straight with a group of friends. Was amazing and we basically maxed out our char's for the current content. Patch 1.0.6 needs to come out faster =/

Agreed, I like Minecraft but I prefer Terraria due to its goals and rewards for exploring, killing and crafting.

Terraria is more focused (actually almost completely focused) on fighting and exploring while minecraft is the opposite. They really are completely different games but both super fun. I can only hope Minecrafts combat becomes similiar to terraria.

Well I think you should see it this way.. Minecraft is a sandbox game.. Terraria is not a sandbox game.. in minecraft you can build replicas of real life buildings.. in terraria.. you can't..

It is a bit more limited than Minecraft, granted, but some people are building insane stuff in Terraria as well. It is in 2d, after all. But to be honest, the creative part is minecraft's niche and quite frankly the only major purpose one plays the game. The combat and gearing isn't why you buy it. In Terraria, it is.
