    A pet changing guide?

Im completely new to the site and everything in it. I just changed 2 of my models, dwarf and night elf, into tauren and undead and i was SOOOOO happy... but now my dwarf hunter needs a mad insane pet to go along with the cool tauren skin : ). Anybody able to link me a working pet changing guide... i looked through the stickies and i can only find things about vendor pets and mounts and such; nothing pet oriented. Well it would be very helpful. If this thread of mine breaks any rules please tell me and ill delete.

You might just change the skin of the beast/creature you tamed, into the beast/creature you want it to look like.

    Re: A pet changing guide?

already posted in the guide... but ill do it here in case. Tried the guide didnt help at all... followed all the steps to a T in about 8 different ways just to make sure i wasnt messing up all with no result. Could somebody send me a summary or somethign plx.

EDIT: In reply to that guy who said find the model and change it... its not quite that simple; and dont correct me when apparently you dont knwo what your talking about because there is much more than just "finding and changing it".

    Re: A pet changing guide?

    Daven -
To change something with a different number of BLPs than something else, you must edit the DBC files. In this case, the DBC files you will need to edit are the CreatureModelData.dbc and the CreatureDisplayInfo.dbc You can access these files through normal means using My Warcraft Studio, but you can not edit them unless you extract the dbc files and converting the files into .csv CSV is mainly an data sheet. Now when you have those converted using a dbc to csv converter (look on google, I use DBCutil,) you will want to view the csv files using a csv viewer (look on google yet again...) When the CSV viewer loads with your csv data all displayed, you will want to find the column(s) with the names of the creatures. Find the creatures that you want to switch out on the CSV editor in the creature name column. Once you have done that, copy the name of the creature you want to switch out with another. When the name is copied, go to the creature you want to switch out and replace the name of the creature in the column. There will most likely be more than one of the creatures you are editing (for example, if I want to switch out a wyvern with a drake, ill prob come up with multiple drakes and wyverns.) (Find the creature, in this case, the drake texture(s) that you want and copy over every one of the creature that comes up in the column.)

When you have finished doing this for both files, you want to use that DBCutil and convert it back to a DBC file. (Just a note, when you use DBCutil, it will not convert it automatically back to a dbc file, but just a file. You will want to rename the normal file to a dbc (example: Info.csv -> info -> rename it to info.dbc using the normal renaming process.) Then just use any MPQ editor and put it into your mpq (of course with DBCs, and everything, you gotta make a folder to put in the files that matches that of the normal mpqs (example: for a creature like a wyvern, you would have to make a creature folder then a wyvern folder inside the creature folder and place the wyvern in. That's the same for a DBC.)

I'm sorry if this confuses you, this was the best way I could explain it.
