basically the OP is talking about buying out a low finite quantity material and then reselling at a higher price

so if you have the spare gold, anytime you see a crafting material of less than 500-1000 units buy it all and then sell on at a higher price, which doesn't exactly work as hundreds of people stockpile and drive the price right down again, if you are lucky you might just make a profit

here's the ****ed up trend in game economies:

the bulk of trading is done by speculators and not by people using them to craft - so the bulk of materials never gets used. just bought and sold over and over as prices slowly rise.

but the rise is fueled ONLY by speculation - not by consumption. so it ends up being a huge ponzy scheme that crashes from time to time and the cycle starts again

ok here's the exploit.

buy 500 crystaline dust.
storage it.
then open storage and trade post at same time.
head to mystic forge
put the dust into mystic at 125 each, and it won't let you click forge.
put the dust up for sale at 1c which bugs it
click forge and click deposit colletables
item duped.
