    Mono Tools

    Hello,
So I started coding my site in ASP.NET/C#. And being me, partly retarded I did not look to see what my web host server was running, well more like I did not think of what my web host was running. My web host is running Linux. And Linux does not support ASP.NET/C#. So I looked around and found mono-tools.

    Website
Mono Tools for Visual Studio is a commercial solution that enables developers to write .NET applications for non-Windows platforms within their familiar Visual Studio environment.
I would like to know if its any good. Also would it be easy to convert a bot over to linux or would it be more difficult.

    Thanks for your help!

I don't think mono supports ASP.NET web applications, since, for deployment, they rely on the MS IIS. To convert it into a linux-savy web-app, it would have to convert your c# and asp code into php or ruby-on-rails, or something to that effect.

I think your best bet will be one of three things:

    1. Buy a domain and dynamically point it to your own Windows Server box, which comes with IIS and so you can host your ASP.NET app on its own.
    2. Change your host to a .NET host. hxxp://www.findbestwebhosting.com/Top10hostingcompanies.aspx/Windows-Web-Hosting/1 hxxp://www.discountasp.net/features.aspx
    3. Rewrite your app using a *nix-friendly language. One that your host supports, while you're at it.
