Tried it all and still not working - What Next?
Read it all and tried it all.
Using W10 quad core Dell
Running both D3 and TH as W7
Running both D3 and TH as administrator.
Using DirectX11
D3 set to either Windowed (full screen) or Windowed - no effective difference
Downloaded and tried
TurboHUD 17.10.4 BETA (DX11, 64 bit) loads but give me the "Can't read D3 Memory. Please run a compatible D3 client and runj TurboHUD as an administrator"
TurboHUD 17.9.1 STABLE (DX11, 32 bit) loads then exits within a few seconds
TurboHUD 17.10.4 BETA (DX11, 32 bit) loads then exits within a few seconds
There is no "exceptions.txt" file in any folder
The "status.txt" files always say
2017.10.17 17:36:26.890 initializing overlay
2017.10.17 17:36:26.905 create Direct2D1 Factory
2017.10.17 17:36:26.916 create DirectWrite Factory

2017.10.17 17:36:27.122 loading configuration
2017.10.17 17:36:27.127 config.xml
2017.10.17 17:36:27.146 ui_default_buffs.xml

2017.10.17 17:36:27.159 ui_default_themeinfo.xml
2017.10.17 17:36:29.350 terminate TurboHUD because Diablo 3 is not running
2017.10.17 17:36:29.376 exit
Nothing seems to work. What do I do next?

You can't use the 64 bit version if your d3 is running the 32 bit client.
If TH vanishes within some seconds it's probably an AV thing. Whitelist the exe and the whole TH folder.

Thank you for the prompt reply. I've played with computers for about 30 years, but I've never heard of whitelisting an executable or folder. What does that mean and how do I do that?

He means whitelisting TurboHud in your antivirus' options.

How to whitelist or telling your AV software not monitoring an executable or a complete folder depends on your AV software. You will have to search for guidelines.

Okay, I set both my AV and Firewall to allow all three versions of TH through. Didn't help.
Still the same results as above.

IMPORTANT!!! Do NOT start TH until after you are in town for the first time!! There are several reasons for this:
1. Game client has to establish a connection. Once connection is established, it takes a few seconds to go from red to yellow to green. When the latency turns green, that means it is relatively stable (< 300 ms).
2. If you start the overlay before connection is established, it WILL NOT run! Back in 2.5.0., one of the server side hotfixes was to ensure that if the overlay was started before connection establishment was obtained, the overlay function would be disabled by default. I found this out by testing it several times. It was not in the patch notes or official hotfixes.
There are other reasons, aimed mainly at forcing us not to use TH to "cheat the system", which I do not understand. I play differently from most of the player base, so I do not get the "I want everything handed to me on a silver platter" attitude from those that do "cheat the system".

I'd tried both ways, after loading the game but before entering a game and again, after your suggestion, waiting until I was in the Survivor's Enclave. I only tried the two 32-bit BETA and STABLE versions. I even set the game in windowed so I could watch what it does in progress. Still loads, does nothing, then unloads out of the Task Manager after about 5 seconds.
I so much want this to work. I really look forward to what this can do in mapping. I'll try almost anything.

What D3 client are you running? The TH Beta is 64-bit only. Go to your Blizz App Game Options settings. If 32-bit is checked, you are running that client. If it is unchecked, you are running the 64-bit client. Also, in the bottom left of the opening screen, it will show the patch number only if 32-bit. It includes (64-bit) if the 64-bit client is running.
Some other things to consider: Your OS may not be up to date (unlikely), you may not have enough free memory, your RAM is too low or one of the sticks is failing (in which case an upgrade is needed), your graphics card/driver is outdated.
Possible solution: Run both TH and D3 in W10 mode. W10 just updated 2 days ago to version 1709 build 16299.19. If you're running in compatibility mode, it likely will not run even if they are in W7 mode together. I have no issues with anything and I keep everything as up to date as possible. I run:
W10
16GB RAM
AMD R9 380 with Crimson ReLive 17.10.1
If you have NVidia, the latest is 387.92 for the 1080 Ti.

Hi, I'm trying to get THUD running with no success, and was wondering if someone could review the things i've tried to see what i may have missed....
Thud latest version downloaded/installed into a clean folder
windowed D3 in 32bit
DX 12, .net framework, etc up to date
the folder is on the exception list of my AV
start d3
rename turbohud.exe to notepad.exe and run it as an administrator
nothing seems to happen. task manager shows that turbuhud isnt being run at all.
any ideas for me?
thanks
EDIT: theres no exception log either

Vern1701,
In D4 > options > Game Settings the box for 32-bit is unchecked. However, on the opening screen, before actually launching the game, next to the PLAY button it says Version 2.6.0.46568 Does that I'm running a 64-bit game which is running the 32-bit game? I'm running Win 8.1 because I don't like Win 10. I have 16 GB memory. My Dell computer has everything on the motherboard so there's no graphics card. Finally, I've made sure D3 is NOT running in any compatibility mode and IS running as administrator.

While in game i get this message:
Cant read d3 memory. please use a compatible d3 client and run turbohud
as admin. overlay is disabled because turbohud is outdated. New version
available at site.
Running both programs as admin, tried both 64 and 32 bit and nothing. Any ideas?

Why?
I was so looking forward to playing with it.
Any idea when it might be back?

A new patch came out last week and caught KJ by surprise. Fear not, at some point this week (hopefully), it will be back.
