Thinking about gold farming for profit? Worth it at this point or are so many people running away from this game making it impossible to sell and not worth the investment in CD keys with the constant banwaves?

How about you do the math and answer your own question? You can get 500k per hour per bot with DH and decent gf gear. Gold sells at 1.1$ per million at the moment.
D3 Gold farming has pretty good potential to net decent income and with 1.04 on the horizon
It should be profitable if you do it the correct way, and put enough resources into the start up.
Mainly gaining profit relies on you alone, noone can truly help you.
Although there are plenty of guides around that will certainly help the process easier.
GL!
I can do the math, it seems recently that people are having issues with gold selling, blizz massive banning...it seems like the window of opportunity is closing, so the question is more of is it worth getting into it at this point.
Ok, I'll do the math then. Gold farming isnt as lucrative as it used to be, because blizzard nerfed most farming spots - IAS nerf and Crypts nerf - so you will not farm as much gold as before and gold prices are a fraction what they used to be. Now, ban wise, I haven't seen large banwaves recently, last wave was targetting AH bots.
500k per hour per bot = 13.2 dollars a day per bot, if prices stay at 1.1$ per mil. If you try to sell you gold on the RMAH, you'll get 1.806$ per mil, so that is about 21$ per bot per day. Asuming keys are worth 60$ and bots 35$ (that's what it cost months ago), you'll need at least 7 days of gold farming to break even. Also, you should consider 1 day a week when you won't be farming, due to maintenance and misc. events. To be able to farm 500k per hour, my guess is that you will need about 5mil to gear up. You also need about 2 days to get to lvl 60 and you wont make any gold because it will be used to buy better gear to farm xp more quickly.
So, you need at least 10 days to break even and after that you can expect 13.2 dollars a day per bot. I've got 2 bots farming 24/7 for about 2 months, sell all my gold in the RMAH and I'm generating 40 dollars a day, not that bad but I wouldn't setup other bots because 10 days is a lot.
You may have more luck with AH bots since they dont require lvling or gear and apparently they generate a lot more than gold farming bots with decent filters (please dont start asking everyone for decent filters) but that windows is also closing due to the market's saturation.
Well the Tradechar form MMOGA (close to 200k deals on ebay) did not change since the launch of the rmah, and my guess is hes close to handing out a billion gold per day (might be alot more dunno). If they do not ban the big players i doubt they'll ban smallfolk in waves for selling gold.
My thoughts are that NO it is not worth it. Less and less people seem to be buying gold/items on the RMAH. Maybe when 1.1 comes out and PvP gets in gear it will be worth it again. But I would reccommend against starting anything up.
Just my $.02
To be honest I think it's not worth the effort atm. The market is, and has been dying for a long time in Diablo 3 now. Sure, it's a nice profit, and it can yield huge cash if you got enough bots and take the proper precautions(VPN, perhaps a private bot).
But the fact that they are handing out alot of bans(perhaps not in waves), not only to AH bots, but alot of farmingbots too, makes it too risky to multibot IMO. At this point I wouldn't buy new accs, level new chars, and buy new gear. I think it's wiser to wait for Guild Wars 2 or perhaps look at some other profitable source, unless you need quick cash right now. I think the GW2 market will be pretty nice, at least in the first few weeks, but it's hard to predict at this stage
I hope you found the answers you were looking for, good luck!

How does VPN save all your bots from being banned? i doubt it would help. It would probably just differentiate your bots from your main if you don't trade gold to your main that is.
My point was to have all different bots running on different IP's, not necessarily VPN, but a VPN on each PC/instance would be one way to do it.
We have seen alot of multi-botters getting banned on all of their accounts at the same time. Blizzard doesn't IP ban, I think, but they monitor "flagged" IP's for sure.

What bots are you using? I have 5 IPs available, my plan was to use VMware / VPC and policy each one so it is on its own IP address. As far as a bot, i currently use autoIT sarkoth, but was thinking about using demobuddy + a core run. I realize this may make it easier to flag and ban the account but my thought was to get in and get out before the next banwave...
Sarkoth is being monitored very carefully. If you can do it, get a private key and work a deal to share some profits... elsewise make your farming as random as possible.
