so lets say leg drop rate increases during time...what if i JUST kill big packs of mobs at once everytime, like wait for them to gather, and clusterfuk 30 of them in 1 shot and repeat,
will i get a kill where i could get 10-20 legs in a single shoot ? since my drop chance will eventually get increased to 100% somehow ?
Hypothetically, this is a possibility. But it would mean playing around the fighting timer for 7-10+ hours, which was said to be inexploitable.
This is totally speculative, but the"moving pieces" in the quote of Travis Day might be to check #monster kills (is it actual farm?), #items dropped (is it actual, looting monsters?), distance travelled (is it actual play?), etc. These are just random exmples, and I'm sure the dev team developped a far more thought-out system.
So I tried testing this out... I'd not been logged into the game for 2-3 days, so there was probably some kind of "rest" timer on my account. Running ASC in ActV, looting chests.
1st run, 1 leg.
Moved the clock forward 8 hrs.
2nd run, nothing.
Moved the clock forward 8 hrs.
3rd run, nothing.
Moved the clock forward 8 hrs.
4th run, nothing.
Moved the clock forward 8 hrs.
5th run, nothing.
Moved the clock forward 8 hrs.
etc....etc... etc... etc................................
6-25th : nothing.
26th run, 1 leg.
27th-30th, nothing.
I stopped at 30 runs. Based on previous experience running this zone, there's no change what-so-ever by changing the system clock by 8 hrs. Also note that this is just looting chests/breakables. I do NOT include adventurer's journals/crafting mats as legs; that said, I found 1 adv. journal.
Will try again with a 24hr change, but not expecting different results.
I was doing the rat caller AFK trick the other night but it died out after 2 hours or so.... but I had been killing white rats for 2 hrs straight. I logged for a few hours and came back on, and upon doing some bounties/rifts I must have had 3-4 legs drop over an hour or so. I wonder if my good drop rate had to do with like 20,000 white kills with no legend drop that came beforehand...
the question is whether X kills since last legend drop comes into play, which you would think it would... My guess is that it's not dependant on just one factor, but weighted over many factors...
been testing this and interesting results so far. I only done 2 rifts on T2 and had 2 drops so far every rift while do the time trick. I however am not picking up the legs. Only changing the time back 1-2 mins. Will continue testing
There's no coorelation between system time and legendary drops as far as I've noticed.
Those of you calling OP an idiot are the real retards though, exploits don't need to be smart or sophisticated.
Made some tests with Accelerify (that should be the sensible choice assuming there are activity checks in game that disallow jumping over big chunks of time). Unfortunately I didn't get any surprising results compared to regular playing, however I enjoy this theory and wouldn't be surprised if anything good (and probably very quickly fixed) would come out of it. Thank you for the idea.
Been reading forums for a long time. Figured I create an account to post my results, OP might be on to something.

10 legs in all, 7 within the first hour or so. I took a small break to eat then got another 3 in 20 mins.
Edit: No, I'm not the op trying to make the myself look better. I am just some random guy who browses this forum regularly but I just wanted to post my odd findings.

are you guys changing the time backward 1-2 min? or you guys are doing what the OP says, forwarding it for 7 hours
Do you guys remember when you could take auctions off the AH early by changing your system time? It's very possible.
all i have to say on this is way back, if anyone still remembers it, the AH was actually affected by what the OP is describing. the process was to set the clock to a different time to trick the system.
well, it was fixed.
is it likely that this sort of thing is still happening? i dont think so.
its much more likely that someone gets some amazing luck and attributes it to something they do.
I had nothing to lose so I gave it a try.
When the first legendary droped I set my time 2 minutes before the actually time.
After 2-3mins the next one dropped and set my time 2 minutes back again.
2-3 minutes later had another drop etc.
Totaly got 6 legendaries in a 10-13 minutes.
Cant say it works neither its not make your own assumptions.
