if I just bought a second d3 account specifically for this purpose then wouldn't it have to be able (farm the gear) to complete the den on t6 first?

You can help the "leaving" account in the quest until it has to touch the sword
So you can clear the den with your full equipped character and touch the shard with your lvl 1 toon
However you'd have to rush that account till it has the quest itself, and this exploit is well known and will be fixed soon so I don't really suggest spending 20$(?) on an another account just for this purpose.

Not really worth it. If you can switch to torment 6 on the char you want to level, provided its not your first char, you can drag the small char through the rumford at the gates quest with your lvl70. The small char starts the game on t6, big char joins, and off you go. You can do lvl1-60 in less than 30mins and get items for both and gold. There is no need for such "exploits" that only result in less EP for small chars.

Not to mention you don't have to walk in this exploit with both of your characters and there is absolutely no risk of dying
1-70 is maximum 40 minutes (counting in that you fail to exit in time like 4 times (this happens more than you might imagine)) and you can rush 3 characters at the same time

It actually super easy to leave in time every time, just rightclick your char portrait and click Leave Game & Party.

As far as I know if you do it on T1 the quest will be "bound" on t1 and will give the t1 rewards even on t6
So if you can't clear it on t6 you should ask some1 to help
