Can your Mule/Main account get banned due to Bot usage

I want to experiment with botting and xfer gold from the bot account to the main account. I have never heard Blizz banning main/mule accounts since they only ban the account running the bot, is this right?

You may be unlucky and get IP - banned, in this case, all of your accounts will be banned.

There were ton of threads on db site, how their mules got hit within "banwave"

What is the 'db site'?
I guess botting does not make sense unless your goal is cashing out before getting banned. I don't see the point out of pumping up my main account which might get banned in the process.

Am I missing something?
